GMT II Ceramic Demand Will Drop . . .

Will GMT Master IIC demand continue to drop? Seemed so hot at one time; now prices are so much lower. Opinions?

you can squeeze them up to 20% if you have a good relationship with your ad's...

From experience....any new model will be hot and will command a premium! But as time goes by...demand usually wanes and so would prices! BodyBump is right...you can get as much as 20% off now..............Got mine 2 wks ago for 17% off.

As with most items, the supply stays the same and demand decreases over time. With this so will the price. Just check the sales section, you would be lucky to get a new GMT2c for retail of 7k. Now you can probably get a new one for around ~6k fairly easily or a good looking used one just under 5k if your lucky.

Some AD's will deal and some won't. When I asked at my AD they offered 15% off but I think when I become serious, I might be able to get 20% off!!!

Supply and demand.Give it about 6 more months and prices in the 2nd hand market might get better.Low 4's is a great price on a used 1 if you can find 1

When the GMT2c was first issued (around 3 years ago, I think) the economy was good and people were willing to pay a premium for newness/exclusivity. It was then a seller's market; today, the watch is no longer a new model, the economy has collapsed and so people are no longer prepared to pay that same premium.

On top of that, ADs are cash-strapped and so are more willing to give discounts, thus making it a buyer's market. So I don't think it's because demand has dropped - it's more because of the state of the economy and the wearing off of the "newness/exclusivity'' factor.

I'm sure sales are slower these days and production of SS has caught up.

I dont think the used market for the C will drop much below 5k. Of course there is the desperate seller here and there but unless there is a actual depression I would say buy used now. Retail price will never drop so the used market only has one way to go from what seems to be rock bottom or close to it.

Do not be so sure!!

I can tell you the list price for this watch is going up 20% in April. Do not think you will get a cheap deal on this by waiting. Wait and see come April and see for yourselves.

you can easily get 20 percent off from an AD on a SS gmt2c... and when the NEW ss sub comes out..... it will seriously hurt the sales numbers for the ss gmt2c...

Say New Sub Will Hurt GMT Sales

How many people will buy a new sub date at over 5500 GBP or 9000 usd. Not as many as you would think. I reckon old subs could well become more sought after.

It is one great watch but it's been around for a while so used prices go down. I have seen one for $4750 recently but quite beat up.

About 1 month ago I had one AD down (or up) to 20% off MSRP but I wanted 25% off. I tried to play hardball but they eventually said NO. So I did not buy it!
Hoping they would call back a few weeks later but they have not yet??
Maybe they sold it?

If it goes up 20% in April, I think I will never buy one!!

Hmmm
I've noticed several of the grey dealers prices on a NIB GMT IIc have slowly creeped UP over the last month or so...

I was just offered a brand new "V" with blank card not from AD but from a good rep. seller for $5500.00. I honestly been thinking about it.

Does anyone have a good relationship with his/her AD, that wants to share it with me?

now - $7,000
+ 20% $1,400
+ tax $600 (about)

$9,000 for a stainless steel watch !!!
what a deal !!!

the AD's are really going to be hurting when people can get daytonas and deepseas at that price all over the internet.

using the same math - a plain sub now at $6,000 would be roughly $7,900 out the door at the AD -
