If you have a case of FOMO and you think you might have struck gold, don't worry. Two tone Daytonas are far from rare. Pass with confidence!

Do you want a two tone Daytona or you think you've just landed something "sought after?" If you want a two tone Daytona, then congrats. Pick whichever dial you like best.

If you're buying it b/c you think you've hit the lotto, then walk away.

Not the rarest by any means - still a great watch though. Both dial variations are clean and timeless. If you buy it do so because it's a piece you've always wanted.

I'm not a Tona or TT fan. My AD had the white dial in the case a couple of weeks ago and i was really surprised at how nice it was. The subdial borders on the white dial made it all flow together very nicely. I probably could have swung some kind of deal if I wanted too. They also had a TT43 and 2 Chnrs, white OP39 and a Dj41 Azzurro.

This!

I guess I'll have to add this is my "level entry" Daytona. As soon as I tried on a Daytona I knew I wanted one. Now, Keep in mind there's no way I'm going to fork over 24k for an item that retails for half of that figure...then add I wanted my Chrono now.

That fast, I can already tell I'm hooked and will be on the lookout for a more subtle second timepiece.

You call for a GMT and get offered something completely different (that admittedly looks nice) and not what you wanted. Hard pass!

You will end up with a lot of unwanted watches if you can't manage that FOMO

Do you want an 18K/SS Daytona or do you want to buy a watch that is hot and appreciating in value aggressively?

Buying a watch because it is hot or desirable is never a good idea in my book. If you like the two-tone Daytona, but it. Doesn’t matter what the secondary market is doing if you have something you like.

So I ended up not taking the tt Daytona ,she made one last ditch effort for me to buy ,stating I take home the watch and decide in two week if I wanted it but I couldn’t not wear the watch and if decided to return the watch I get a complete refund .is that common practice ?

Sounds like you are just settling to a piece. 16-17k (new at AD) is a hefty price to pay for a watch you don’t precisely want. Don’t get me wrong I wear my TT Daytona almost daily but I didn’t call around to ADs looking for one watch and settle on a 116503 instead.

If Rolex made a Rollesor SS/WG Daytona, they could sell it all day for $20k.
Funny that SS is worth more than YG to the secondary market, huh?

Yes that’s why I didn’t pull trigger I’m considering it’s value retention

Waiting was a good choice. Get what you really want and don’t settle. If you settle, you will regret it later.

Even a year ago twotone Daytonas were a common site at most AD’s. I’m guessing sales have “skyrocketed” relatively speaking in today’s climate. Nice watch if you like it, waste of money if it’s a substitute for what you want.

These are words to live by. Would have saved tens of thousands over the years had I followed those words at the outset.
