Rolex in Zurich
I'm transiting through Zurich and have a couple of hours.
I was wondering if I'll have better luck with getting a SS piece at one of the ADs along Bahnhofstrasse vs the airport where I've had supply is really bad? Or is it the same case everywhere where you won't find any SS professional pieces or even a DJ41 on display? I've actually bought a few pieces from Bucherer, albeit in London, so don't think it'll help my case too much... |

My first post :) Unfortunately the shops are dry, just the Asian tourists who splurge on DDs and DJs. They are not accepting names on the waiting list either and wont even consider if you do no have a local address. The airport Boutique is run by Bucherer and the last time I was there which was two weeks ago, it took them around 10 minutes of discussion to bring out an Air King from the back but that is about it. I frequently travel there and nothing has changed in the past one year, don’t reckon anything would have changed now.

10 minutes of discussion to bring out an AK?! Wow how times have changed. Guess I can forget about an Explorer let alone a Sub. Do you know if prices are increasing in Zurich as well come 1st Jan? |

As far as I can read over the forum and everywhere I do reckon so. Do not know the exact amount but apparently they are increasing all over the world. Would be a surprise if it dint happen in Switzerland.
If you are out for an explorer I think Dubai should help, you wont get it immediately but the waiting list is only a few months. Not such a hot model at least in the UAE. |

I was there in October, did not find a single SS model. I tried quite a bit as my wife was attending a conference and I had each day to myself to wander around, check out the sights and, of course, look at watches.
Someone in the group I was travelling with did manage to pick up a ND Sub at Dubai International on the way over to Switzerland though, which I was surprised at. In terms of prices, I was told very recently that here in New Zealand everything is going up 10% in the New Year (probably 31st March, as that marks the end of our financial year). We also had a price rise this current year.... |

Was there in August, 3 dealers on same fancy street. The boutique was close to the lake and had more inventory than anyone else, very friendly staff. Picked up my Milgauss from there. They sell the watch minus 7.7% tax, make a charge on ur credit card for that, you have to go to customs office at the airport to get a firm stamp and mail back to avoid the extra 7.7% tax charge. Much smarter than trying to get the VAT back in airports. There is also a Rolex boutique in Zurich airport but had no SS. Good luck and enjoy Zurich

There is no golden ticket (in general). Work with your local AD, start somewhere eg Datejust and work your relationship over the years |
