On the list for Daytona C

I'm now on the list for the Daytona C in either white or black dial, at 2 different AD's in my city.

Went to a third AD today who said they don't do a list anymore, and if they receive any SS sports models (even the Daytona) they just put them in the display window. Not sure how much I believe that lol.

I haven't bought any watches from any of these AD's before, as I usually buy my watches when abroad in Europe.

Any waiting list experiences people would like to share?

If you're expecting a Daytona C to be your first purchase at an AD then I suspect you'll be in for a long wait. Very few ADs will sell them outright to a new buyer since it's like handing them a check for 8-12k cash.

A similar thread was started yesterday: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=717693

Good luck. You'll need it for sure.

My experience is very unusual...

I first inquired about a Daytona (like you, white or black) on October 26th — I sent an email to my salesperson so I know exactly when.

I got the call 58 days later on December 23rd — went in next day to pay/pick up. I was very lucky to get it right before price increase in January 1st.

Here it is...

I don’t believe what any of your three dealers said. Good luck.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on your new acquisition of a Dayton in 2028!

No, not at all. You have a purchase history with your AD. The OP doesn't.

My advice is to become a customer in some capacity at all three ADs to increase your chances exponentially. That doesn't mean you have to spend a ton of money. However, even if you spend a few hundred dollars every few months and make friends with the sales people, it is infinitely better than having no customer relationship at all. You don't have to buy 5 watches and spend $50K on day 1. Just make sure your name, number, and email are in their system as a customer and go visit from time-to-time. Spend a few dollars.

Sounds less shady to say that than to tell people they are ‘on the list’. Even if both are lies.

The first AD said 1-2 years (this was a smaller AD).

The large AD in the center of town would not give a time frame but said they could not guarantee I would get the watch at all. I think the lady even made a strange face or a huffing noise when I said Daytona.

I was on the wait list for 2.5 years, got the call back in November. Purchased a Sub from them in the meantime and stopped by to chat a few times a year.

Spend time with the first AD and purchase your next watch(es) through them. A black dial is far more likely than white since the list for white is typically longer and those are saved for more established clients.

Forget about the second AD. You have zero chances there. She was just being polite despite Rolex instructing sales associates not to huff or make strange faces.

But what was your purchase history with this said AD and SA? That’s the important part of the story as you know Dougie

Ya I totally agree with you. I went with a friend who is also looking to buy a new watch and we sat with the sales rep for at least 30 min chatting watches. So I think we made some kind of connection at least.

Without any purchase history I do not see your getting one at MSRP from an AD unless the supply is greatly increased by Rolex. Sorry, but we can still all hope its works out for you.

Can't ever say for sure what will happen. Getting on the list is definitely worth a try, and I hope you get the call. Please post photos of the watch when you get it.
