Anybody notice?

Past few days ive noticed a couple watch accounts I follow on IG have posted photos of teaser wristshots of just a red rubber strap without the face showing. with a countdown in their caption and #powerofred #audemarspiguet. Special watch or just AP releasing red bands?

It is an important new model launch in Asia. I am afraid I am not at liberty to disclose what is happening so you will need to be patient!

Do you mean in November at the end of season golf Race to Dubai? If so then I'd expect any releases showcased there to be 'global' releases for the following year.

I think the launch on Thursday is a regional launch. It may be a global launch but given that the watch that horoloupe is teasing is a 'colour themed' variant of an ultra thin, then it's likely that it is a regional launch. Thus by deduction we should possibly see other regional launches as well. Alternatively we may see a global reveal, which could indeed be Dubai, if you were suggesting a Dubai event sometime soon.

I KNOW nothing, just conjecture on my part.

p.s.

I did read Conkers' comment, and he's an authority, but I couldn't decide whether he meant that it is an important new model FOR the Asian region, OR whether it is an important new model period, but the launch just happens to be in Asia.

What fun!

Not exactly hard to guess what it is, and what the dial colour is likely to be, is it?

I was just waiting for that comment... given the amount of limited editions maybe the not limited editions will soon be more valuable since there be less non limited editions than limited editions (did I mention the word "limited editions enough yet :) sort of like the ridiculous VIP guest lists in las vegas clubs where its easier to get entry in the non VIP lines...

Yawn.

AP is becoming like Omega. Half the watches are “limited edition”. They’re all the same watch with different colors. This one will be red. Big deal. Pretty soon non-limited edition APs will be rarer than limited editions.

I have two Royal Oaks, a RO blue dial 15400ST and full gold ROC 26331OR and I’ve become so turned off to AP as a result of their marketing strategy stolen from Omega. Pretty soon we’ll see a Hodinkee Royal Oak limited edition. Tired of AP.

I think it shows they're adapting with the times.
Patek released red watches last year.

It isn't so much about limited editions, rather the brand has/continues to appeal to a broader (younger) audience.

I completely agree that theyre releasing too many LE pieces which I guess to a lot of us is hurting their image. But on the other hand I do see that theres a huge market for it and AP are capitalizing on this. On some days it bothers me and on others I like the fact that theyre offering something other than blue, grey , black, or white.
