Which of you Rolex collectors have Tudor in the mix!?

Hey guys.

Curious to know how many of you guys have an extensive Rolex collection with a few tudors thrown into the mix!

Currently I’m the owner of a 126710BLRO and a EXPII

was lacking a dive watch and didn’t wanna spring for the sub again so I just added the black bay ETA “black rose” back to the collection (for the third time lol)

I had a friend of mine call it a poor mans rolex and thought it was weird that I added it to my actual Rolex collection! I laughed a bit.

I have owned this same watch multiple times and always regret selling it. Love it!

I currently have 2 Rolex and 3 Tudors. I like and wear them all equally as they all have their merits regardless of the brand.

I wouldn’t take what your friend said to heart. Most people, including veterans in the watch community can’t get past the brand loyalty mental block. It’s their loss and not yours.

Thank you. I'm 57 so it's taken a while. Got a Speedy as well. Then there's a few in the B team.

Mine is 50-50. Buying less Rolex in near future as there are no longer accessible as before.

I have the Black Shield and a Blue Pelagos in my current watch collection.

I don't see the 'modern' Tudor as a poor mans Rolex, although I'm old enough to know when it was.

Nowadays, I just see it as another watch brand, I buy because I like it, just like the other brands in my collection. The ties with Rolex had no weight for my choice to purchase the 2 Tudor's I currently have.

5 Rolexes and 4 Tudors would have been 5 Tudors but I can't get hold of a P0-1.

Wasn’t Tudor as a brand introduced as a ‘poor mans Rolex’? Obviously pitched differently with better wording!

So not sure we can blame your friend for his words, when it’s was how Rolex launched the brand in the first place.

I like Tudor and bought my son a BB58, and am now tempted to buy one for myself. I’ve also considered the Pelagos as I think it’s superb value. One way or another, I suspect I will add one to the collection.

I thought the Tudor Pepsi GMT was an own-goal as it really does smell of ‘poor mans Pepsi GMT’. I know someone who has the Tudor and the Rolex, and he actually prefers the Tudor. But, having two watches so similar undermines Tudor in my view.

With the fast-rider, the Pelagos, and some of the others in the range, Tudor can position itself as delivering different options to Rolex but with Rolex quality.

Yes in a way Tudor's reputation is a poor mans Rolex. Of course it's only opinion. Get what you like. To me tudor and rolex gives me the Toyota and Lexus vibe. Aesthically different but similar in the core. Although in recent years I think tudor is slowly finding it's own identity but still hasn't stepped outside its bigger brother's shadow yet.

I have six Rolex and two Tudors. My vintage Tudor Sub (79090) with a Rolex marked case would probably argue with the "Poor Man's Rolex" label. If Rolex was comfortable putting their brand on a Tudor.....well you make up your own mind.

Well it must have been a great journey then. I get a feeling people nowdays just want to get it all instantly more and more. There is something special in patience for some things, as we change our taste changes too, and in return we can reflect on ourself just by looking at, for example, our watch collection.

I blame it all on amazon that 2 day shipping thing spoiled everybody. Everyone just want instant gratification now. In NYC a lot of things are available with one day shipping now and who knows eventually we will move to a same day shipping model.

I own seven Rolex watches and five Tudors at the moment. I think Tudor is a great brand and works well. I always love it when someone tells me that Tudor is a poor mans Rolex. I usually answer the Tudor is a smart mans Rolex. Then the conversation gets interesting.

I can see how that affects everything, it is all the same here.

I remember when my career took off a bit better, I was so so pumped to get a car, really nice 5 series sedan, for that feeling of instant gratification.

Just a few years later, I laugh at myself so hard now :D

To stay on topic, I’m eyeing BB36 as alternative to ExpI
When I get my sub, might be great addidion

I really like the Advisor. It’s the only Tudor I would get as I can’t stand the snowflake hand. I think it’s looks out of place, kind of comical.
