Need advice on Sub 16610 vs GMT 16710 for small wrist

Hi guys, need help on deciding my next watch.

Now I have Explorer I 114270 and it fit my 6 inch wrist kinda well even though the clasp is not in the center. (It comes with 78790A bracelet). I have 5 links left on both sides of the bracelet.

At first I want to buy Submariner 14060M, luckily the shop I want to buy from after he saw my wrist he offered me to adjust the bracelet size for me before I make a purchase, after he remove all the removable links from 14060m bracelet there is still lots of room left and it really didn't fit my wrist well.

So at that time I went with the Explorer I 114270 instead, I really love it.

Now I'm looking for my second watch, I'm not sure whether these two models Sub 16610 and GMT 16710 will be able to adjust the bracelet size to fit my 6 inch wrist or not. I haven't have a chance to try and adjust the bracelet on these two model yet.

I believe GMT 16710 which has the same bracelet model as my Explorer would be able to adjust and fit my wrist similar to the Explorer.

Any advice on these two model or any other model to look for that would fit my wrist.

Thanks a lots,

Why dont you shorten the 6 o'clock side of the bracelet on your current watch and move the extra link to the 12 o'clock side? That will even out the clasp. It's not meant to be the same length on both sides.

Edit: nevermind, is see you are out of adjustment.

Fewer links on the 6 o’clock side of the bracelet will help you to center the clasp.

I always start by fitting the clasp to the center of my wrist from 6 o’clock. Inevitably there will be one or two more links at 12 o’clock ymmv

No no no no. 40mm is WAY to big for you, it will hang over the sides of your wrist. The explorer already looks like a big watch on you. Stick to 36mm or the watches will look silly.

Need advice on Sub 16610 vs GMT 16710 for small wrist

16710 GMT gets my vote, but 40mm may be too large for your wrist.

Wow, never saw a clasp favor one side so extreme before.

Try reversing the bracelet. That’s what I did to keep the 6 o’clock side shorter. This helps keep the watch head centered. Alternatively, there are watchmakers that can take out the river in the clasp and can take out that 5th removable link and permanently river the clasp to the 4th 6 o’clock link. This would later be reversible. I may eventually go this route if this is too annoying.

I've the same issue. I couldn't center the clasp on my 36mm Exp or 16710, my 16610lv with 93250 bracelet with half link fits perfect.

I can't imagine your wrist being that small that 14060 doesn't fit, it should fit properly on the bracelet (also looking at your explorer). I got small wrist but I got the 14060 to fit fine.

So, I've never heard this and was skeptical until I did the math for myself, and it fits my tastes perfectly...6.75" wrist circ (171.5 mm)/4.5 = 38 +/- 2 mm = 36-40 mm. Definitely the size of my watches that spend the most time on the wrist.

Average male wrist is 181mm (+/- 2mm), accepted modern size for average wrist is 40mm ................ and there you have it !

This is interested. So my 7” wrist can out to 39.5mm, which I actually find to be the right size for my wrist. 40mm is my preference cause for the half a mm I’d rather go up slightly.

That said an 8” wrist would work out to have an optional size of over 45mm which I don’t really agree with (with the exception of maybe a Panerai).

Now I know you said +/-2, which makes more sense, but also gives such a high range that “optimal” loses it’s strength and dilutes it’s meeting.

7” @ 39.5mm is mathematically identical proportions as 8” @ 45mm. How can one be perfect and the other not ?

This still make me curious whether the shop didn't adjust the bracelet properly for me on 14060m or that it really can't be any shorter without having to remove the permanent link. FYI 14060m comes with No.93150 FF / No.501B Hollow end link.

Will try to play and adjust my Explorer bracelet later tonight.

May I ask what is your wrist size and would love to see how do you adjust the bracelet?

Me is around 33.8mm :) + 2mm then it's the Explorer

Also share some pics of 14060m here on my wrist.

Just do some quick photoshop on these old bracelets (93150 , 93250 , 78790A) to compare the length when removing all the removable link out like my Explorer bracelet (78790A).

TGV on Urban Gentry youtube just revisited the GMT you are referring to (and he has similar sized wrists to you)... it used to be available on a Jubilee which suits smaller writs better - watch his youtube ...as you will see, it should fit fine!!! No advice!
