Best Place to get a Deal now
This topic comes up all the time.I think the best place to get a good deal on a used Rolex now is the dealers themselves.NOTHING is selling these days for fantasy prices and they are very eager to raise some cash now. Many hobbiests turned expert dealers are holding north of 30-40 watches at around 2-300k and are in trouble like always when falling prices happen.
For vintage Rolex sport models (GMT SUBS)I am seeing this now. AAA Condition box papers are holding there own still down 20-30% from Jan. Excellent condition plastic crystal are all near $3-$4000 excluding fancy dials etc but they arent much higher. The junk that was put together in the last 5 years redials bad cases mix matched franken watch etc isnt selling even at around $2500 and headed lower. These watches will go back to around $1000-$1500 range soon I think. Its getting back to realistic prices for us to enjoy. The investment crowd has been had again in another mania and is leaving the watch market for now.I view this as good news for the person like me who enjoys these old watches. What are your thoughts here and what are you seeing in your area?
