Daytona Questions
Hello Forum,
I am a new member to the forum and have recently purchased a pre owned two tone Daytona ref: 116523 dated Nov. 2013. I'm curious to learn how my watch travelled to the USA. It has a warranty card dated 11/13/13 and the owner's manual is printed in Spanish. It looks like it was shipped from Switzerland to a distributor in Madrid. I have the 2 boxes, papers, and hang tag. It was lovingly cared for and appears scratch free. It does not look like it was ever polished. I can still see under magnification the grain in the stainless and it is uniform. Other than a couple slightly buggered screws at the clasp on the short screw and a long link screw it appears flawless. I'm curious how it made its way to a Calif. dealer. The really cool part is it was placed in service on my birthday and it was the 50th year of production of the Daytona series. Adam |

All rolexes are manufactured in Switzerland then sent to ADs all around the world. That watch was probably purchased at a dealer in Spain. Now how it got back to California is up to your imagination. An example would be a California resident was traveling in Spain and bought the watch on vacation.

The dealer or person whom you bought it from couldn’t tell you anything?

I'm confused by the obvious explanation here.
Plenty of Americans travel to Europe on holiday or business. The VAT/Tax free Euro prices may have been particularly attractive, or of course someone from Spain came the to work and live in the U.S and traded it. Watches end up all over the world I've bought some that originated at AD's in Kuwait! Happened to be in absolute mint condition. |

A US grey dealer acquired it from an AD in Spain.

I bought a 16710 from an used dealer in London, it was originally purchased in Macao, It is now well travelled and resides in Toronto.

Sorry to ask maybe a newbie obvious but I thought it was neat how it travelled the world.
Also Rolex must have to print their literature enclosed in the boxes for almost every language. Adam |
