RIP, an icon.

I believe only Olivia de Havilland remains from that generation, she is 103 also.

Dang, I saw Spartacus as a kid and even at that age was pretty impacted by it, especially the ending. RIP, legendary chin.

He had many more popular roles but I’ll always remember him as Spur (& Harrison) from my favorite childhood movie “The Man From Snowy River.” 103 years old, well played sir, RIP.

He was also one of the few actors who directly stood up to The House UnAmerican Activities blacklist, the pet project of Senator Joseph McCarthy and his minion Roy Cohn.

The era was called McCarthyism, and is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence.

Cohn was later a mentor to a future president.

Kirk Douglas was a brave man who jeopardized his career and livelihood in standing up to the powerful forces at play during that time.

RIP Kirk.
My favorite movie character of Kirk was his role as USN Commander Egan "In Harm's Way".
