Rolex day date 36 or datejust 41

Sorry for another What watch thread but I’m still going back and forth. Any insight would help me in my decision process

So 18238 day date 36mm yellow gold with black stick dial or 126333 datejust 41 chocolate Dial ever rose jubilee band. President is a 2000 model and datejust is a newer model 2019.

Let me know your thoughts please. Thanks

For me this is so easy. An 18238 is a classic timeless watch and oozes class in the config you mentioned. For me I don't even think a SS sports can compare with a president. It's whether you think the DD wears too small. Finding a DD in the right condition as well is getting ever harder as well.

Pros of the DD:

classic size and with that size, you’ll have a very timeless look

Just get the watch serviced to make sure that it is still water resistant and all and you’ll have a gold classic Rolex for the price (I think) of a modern SS Rolex AND you will also know the Day of the week via the dial

Someone already took the depreciation hit for you

Pros of the DJ41:

Brand new, so should have a 5 year warranty

Create your own memories with a brand new watch and have lots of different options to choose from

To me these watches are totally different. I would look to add both as your budget allows.

Prefer 18239, the WGDD. Alas by budget is more DJ right now.

Nice to read all the responses. I found a really nice looking day date yellow gold with green dial that is absolutely stunning...

can anyone chime in and tell me if this is an aftermarket dial and if the watch looks refinished....

Should I stay away from anything that is not original ROLEX? or with an older model does it matter? Its being sold from an online at Precious Timepiece & Co.,,,has anyone heard of them?? any info would be awesome..

Thanks!!

DJ41 for me. I prefer the newer updated movement and size much better. Im however biased having a 41and can't do yellow gold.

Wrist size and comfort level with a 36mm watch is the only issue I would have. If you are okay with 36mm, then there you have it.

that dial is aftermarket. i'd personally stay away as it devalues the watch

Ok thats good to here thats kinda what I thought....I guess If If I'm planning on keeping it then that doesn't matter. I think I would be more concerned off it damaged the watch or cause failure to the watch....

This is kinda where Im at too!! the same price I can get the datejust 41 chocolate dial and be the first owner with the new movement or get a 20 year old watch that has the same value...its like buying a used high end car....seems like the more expensive the car that faster the value goes down...shoot you can buy an older bently GT for 25-35K with low miles these days so why buy a new toyota......?????BUT for real this is one of my biggest dilemmas about the watch new vs old.....

Just want to say that Im so blessed and lucky because my wife is one awesome lady..I was on the mission to sell my datejust II and get a new watch and she says....

"why not just get another and keep your current one...we have 3 boys you have to pass down watches to so you need at least 3 nice watches" !!!WOW what a wife!!!!

For me, it's the day date. 36mm is classic sized and will be timeless.

I looked into this watch and was told that the band and everything was original however the dial is original dial it has been repainted..Also I was told that it has been pressure tested and fully water proof as it should be.

if someone can take a look at this and tell me if this band looks really stretched or good condition. as well as the casing and over all watch. I have been told that the watch has been serviced and polished and I am under the impression that if not done correctly the watch looses value and some if its quality edges.
