Rolex Seadweller 16600

Hi all,

Some of you might now know that Rolex have done a final 'run' of the old pre-deep-sea Sea-Dweller.

I got rather excited about this and have been able to source one in the UK, It is selling for £4000, now I would love to buy it and will have the money, but was wondering if it is a good investment and should I need to sell it, as unused, will I get what I paid for it?

Many thanks for your time as always all!

I wouldn't look at watches as investments but it seems to hold it's value better than some intangible investments.

Buy it because you are going to enjoy it and wear the heck out of it. If you plan to wear it and sell it, you will not enjoy the watch, for the fear of wear n tear.

I tend to agree with Omega here. Especially not the 16600 as you may have discovered from previous related posts. Although unique and less 'common' then other genre rollies, there is nothing that makes it a collectable per se.

I do want it for the love of the watch, and the Deep Sea is a bit big on me to be honest, I am saying should I see that 3-4 months down the line, I need the money tied up in it, what will happen?

You may break even on the watch if you buy it and then don't wear it and leave all the stickers and stuff intact. But that's a big maybe.

Once you peel that off and wear it, or wear it with the stickers on, you'll get less for the watch.

You see, what you are losing on is the transferrability of the 2 year warrantee. This only goes to the original buyer and is non-transferable.

If you paid $4000 for it with the 2 year warrantee, why would someone buy it off you for $4000 and NOT get the warrantee?

Unless you want to hold onto this watch in your vault for the next 10 years un-touched, then you'll get your money back and some.

Haha, good point, but like one of the people's signature says on here, there is no Rolex dealer in heaven :D
