Go back to RSC?
About a year ago I sent my 2007 116710LN for a service at the local RSC. They seemed to have done a great job, but 6 months ago I noticed that the polish on the bottom right hand lug wasn't finished well.
Firstly, the brushing towards the bottom of the lug was but sloppy and you can see that the finish tends more to satin. Secondly, the edge of the lug is slightly rounded and not as sharp as the other lugs. Is it worth me going back to RSC and asking them to fix this, or am I being a bit pedantic? Do you think that fixing it would make it worse because then that lug would become thinner than the others? I've included some photos. |

Polishing/shaping = removing metal
I wouldn't worry about it personally as the more you get Rolex to polish it the thinner the lug will get. Once they take off metal they can't put it back on. It looks OK to but you need to show clearer photos which arrows of what exactly you are saying is wrong.

I would leave it alone at this time. And the next time you need it serviced 10 years from now you can decide to polish it or leave it alone again.

every single time a watchmaker has touched my watch, RSC or not have left marks and imperfections on my watch. For this reason at all costs I choose to have minor things looked at. I've learnt to live with this stuff...

The deed is done move on. You're only going in deeper if you attempt to fix it , which you can't be done without major surgery. My opinion never polish leave the factory case alone! I would rather have the "worn look" than a case with rounded corners and a imbalanced witch case. Just my 2 cents others don't mind a polished case.

I don’t see what’s wrong with this lug. Put a nice scratch/ding on it, move on and live.

You are not OCD. It looks not right from the angle it looks like the corner was unnecessarily polished.
If you take it again to the service they will make the lug much tinner and it will missmacht with other 3 lugs, then all 4 lugs will be thinned and you will have a totally strange and different watch. Sometimes its better to go to independents who will not do anything further from just overhauling the movement and 1 bar pressure test thats what you actually need. And if you are lucky you will be able to sit and watch all process which will take about 5-6 hours if worked on it nonstop. Better to keep complicated things simple. RSC or independent doesnt matter. Servicing a watch is always a very disgusting thing for me. Wish these nice Oyster watches were all quartz, then we would change the battery and gasket by ourselves. |

There has been lots of talk about the fat lugs being more friendly to refinishing. But any polishing changes the original contours to a small degree. I wouldn't say it looks bad, but it's no longer original.
