paying above retail for root beer two tone

Should I wait for this model to go below retail or buy now from greys , doesn’t seem like any ads near me have stock or is model on the trajectory down like most two tones do ? I’m in no rush just had an itch..... 🤷*♂️

It's about the same net net after taxes. Just enjoy the watch unless you want the name on the warranty card or dont want the risk of a fake.

With all the super fakes coming out. I would rather wait and buy from an AD.

As someone else stated....It's about the same when you count taxes.

This watch I have seen many times at a couple different AD's. This is a very nice watch, but not impossible to see at the AD. If a reseller has the watch I would be trying to get a discount, because they probably bought the watch for less than MSRP so may be more room to get the sale price at or below MSRP.

Speak to your AD about availability.

I don't think this piece will ever go below retail tbh - RG has such a warm tone & much less 'blingy' than YG it has really changed a lot of peoples opinion on TT generally - including mine

I went to around 4 ADs around London today and they all told me the same thing, lists are closed or that they are not accepting deposits. Maybe having purchase history will help but looks like no chance if you don't. The wait continues for me

It is obtainable in the US. I would talk with the ADs in your area to get an idea on the wait time. The one below was in a display case at an AD over the holidays.

I am not a TT person and was surprised how much I liked it. I did not get it but it is a very nice watch.

I’d just throw my name on a few lists. I think it’s obtainable at retail with a little patience.

Walked in my local dealer, asked if they had anything new. He pointed to a two tone sub he had in the show case. I then asked if they had a root bear, he answered maybe, went inside and came out with one. Manager said if you are serious about buying will offer it to you now! Walked out with a root bear this past Friday and it is stunning

Just told by my AD today this model is on allocations. Not readily available to their knowledge and they have people asking for it but aren’t sure when they will get another one next.

If you’ve waited, wait more and buy at retail. Speaking from personal philosophy.

This is one of the most good looking watches made by Rolex and one that pictures don’t do justice. Has to be seen in the flesh for the warmth and class it exudes.

In either case, all the best.

Not that difficult to obtain from an AD. However, like other have said, if you add taxes, the TS may have it for the same price.

After buying and wearing the CHNR, I have stopped wearing my 116613LB sub and even considered selling it. That, I thought would never happen as I considered 116613LB to be one of my favorite TT. I guess, I am over yellow gold in general.

Nice work! The Root Beer is really starting to grow on me. I think I will add this to my list. Still waiting on my first Rolex but this may have moved to #2.

I'd wait, just before Christmas my AD had two at once, I tried it on but it didn't sing for me. It shouldn't be hard to get. ADs are all playing the game of no discounts but I know I'd get something, the only one i ever paid full msrp was for a Batman but they included the tax.

Congratulations to you - you guys in the US are so lucky.

I would bet both my Kidneys that a situation like that would NEVER happen here in the UK unless something dramatically changes regards supply & demand.

Here AD’s don’t even display TT Subs in the windows anymore - everything is wait listed.

Hmmm not sure what to tell you. I think it's attainable at the AD, with a little patience and networking...but then again, it seems to be a regional type thing, so without knowing how things are in your part of the country...I don't know.

One thing's for sure, though. It's a great watch!

paying above retail for root beer two tone

5 months wait for the CHNR in 2018 in Amsterdam. A month later another AD called they also had one for me.
Last year, 2019, SA told me that there were 30+ clients on the waitlist.
Might be BS.

If this watch was going to go below retail it would already have happened. It has been out for almost 2 years, and it still trades 20-25% above MSRP.

The wait for this watch being PM should not be so long. Wait and buy new from AD.

Wait and buy from an AD if you’re opposed to buying from one of the trusted sellers here on TRF.

My AD offered this watch to me in December. Beautiful watch but it just didn’t sing to me and I already have BLNR. I think these are becoming easier to find at ADs. Otherwise pay a little extra and buy trusted grey. They will never dip below MSRP.

This GMT is ground on me to the point of becoming my favorite one next to the White Gold blue dial model which is out of my budget unless i decode to sell my car

So I have been trying to get a SS Rolex for the past 3 months and I have been offered two tone sports models a few times now. I think if your patient they are alittle easier to get now vs a reg submariner

no rush, I would feel more confident purchasing from an AD. The risk is too high for me
good luck man
