Its sent by Registered Mail in the US. So the mail regulations apply. Generally no plastic anywhere as the postal stamps could be wiped off the package.

Brown PAPER tape. They use an ink stamper to mark all the tape seams. Ink will not adhere well to plastic, it will smudge off.

Must be brown paper tape. I confirmed this a while back with Dallas RSC.

Call RSC
They will supply you with a box and the correct tape. Mine showed up a couple days after a call to RSC NY at no charge.

As mentioned, the RSC doesn't make the shipping rules or requirements.
They simply require shipping by Registered Mail, and the Post Office regulates those requirements. Don't meet them, they won't accept it for shipment.

Brown paper tape. When you go to USPS and send the package registered mail, the associate will break out the brown paper tape and proceed to seal up every angle on the box. That what they did with mine back on Sept 30 when I sent my 16710 to Dallas RSC.

Yes, brown paper tape per USPS regs. I've had two experiences at my local post office. First time the clerk did the taping for me and the second time I had to do it. Regardless, no big deal and easy to do.

Like everyone else says. Brown paper. They stamp it all around...
They did not tape it for me - i don’t think they want that risk / exposure B |

Hi, just to clear up. Some outdated / incompetent info is being posted for folks depending on how they ship.
Rolex has recently relaxed some of their shipping to RSC polices in the US. They just don’t advertise it. I called to verify my way of shipping before sending my watch for service in March 2019 and other times since. 1a) For the last year, I have sent watches to both Dallas and NYC using UPS Parcel Pro (w/ Ground or 2-Day Air). FedEx is another option. 1b) You do NOT need to use USPS Registered Mail. However, that USPS option will still make sense for many members as they don’t have a Parcel Pro account. You need to make sure insurance is properly purchased & you'll be coverage. UPS or FedEX will sell you as much insurance as you need but the details are in their fine print. Only $1000 (or so) is paid out for fine jewelry. It might make sense to see if you're eligible to open a Parcel Pro account. You also get a cheaper rate through them. 2) you must still use the Rolex box and water activated white tape. I also use the water activated provided brown tape as an extra procaution. 3) for extra security, insert the taped Rolex box into one of those strong plastic- like UPS letter envelopes. The Rolex box fits perfectly in there. You can also get one their UPS Address pouches to keep your label from getting worn or wet during transit. Both UPS products mentioned have their own very sticky adhesive. |
