Pls help with Stella Day Date

Hello friends, I need some help with an intended purchase. Seller promised clearer photos when he is back from overseas Wednesday. In the meanwhile, if you guys spot anything not right, I shall not waste any further time on this.

My main concern is the alignment of the letters seemed different from the many stella photos I searched online. I have also not come across any Stella dials that are lighter in the centre and such deep green at the sides.

Seeking all comments. Appreciate your time looking into this. Cheers.

Bad photos, but that looks like what is called a “vignette” or “gradient” dial. Sellers do very often describe these dials as Stellas, and I don’t know whether they are lacquered or not, but personally, I don’t think of them as Stellas. They do bring a price premium over a standard dial, but usually not nearly so much of a premium as (what I think of as) a “real” Stella. I’ll be interested to hear what the actual experts have to say!

I am not an expert, but those pictures do not inspire confidence. I would be very skeptical and check and double check the reference prior to purchase with a known expert.

Mr. Carver, on the topic of vignette dials, were blue/green/red the only factory colors, or are there original brown vignettes also?

And, it seems that >90% of them are diamond dials. Are there factory vignette baton dials, or those all repainted?

Wow, just wow! Miamiclay, that WG kelly green Stella is incredible. I think it is the most attractive watch I've ever seen. I'm blown away.

These things have really grown on me especially the turquoise ones ,might have me to add one to my list for this year

Thank you guys. That clears up the air. I will not be paying such a high premium for it since it is not a stella. I think it is a nice dial combination though. Will post when I get clearer photos and seek your advice if dial is original.

I've never paid attention to them and don't have much info at al! You have more info in your question than I have in my head. :)

Your silver & white dial WG DD is quite a beauty too.

I also added a red Stella about 6 weeks ago, you can see it HERE. From what I’ve seen, the diamond dial Stellas seem more prone to cracked lacquer, so I’ve sought baton dials.

Green is the rarest. Brown is a factory option also.
