Holding Value of Royal Oaks
Hi All,
Would like to find out (especially from long term owner of AP Royal Oaks), how does the value of Royal Oaks hold especially for long term. As we all know, for Rolex sports model, the value appreciate the longer it is. Any idea how does it look for the Royal Oaks? Example for 15400ST, what is the 5, 10, 15 year type of outlook? I know that no one can say for sure how it will be in the future, I am asking those who has owned Royal Oaks for a long time and their experience with their value over time. I also know that investment value should not be the reason why I should buy the watch. I merely want to have a sense of where it is heading. Thanks for all replies and please do not flame. |

I bought my first RO a 15400 for 13500 in 2014. I had just missed the chance to pay 12000 because there was a price increase. Back then discounts were common.
I paid 18300 for one in 2018 and then ~20k for my 15500 last summer.

I paid 18,500 for my 15400 in 2018. I wonder what the "real" price is of the 15400 today. Seems like the lowest list price is around 22k and there aren't as many listed as there were when they were still in production. Maybe a lot of holders at the moment.

short term view it looks like steady and slight increase.
The real test is long term like 10-15 years. I know that perhaps only the 15202 is commanding a premium in the long run. |

I bought my RO 15300ST in 2008 and paid 7000 EUR for it brand new (MSRP was around 9000 EUR). Today, in Chrono24 the cheapest one is selling for 18500 EUR. Anyway, the Offshore holding value is a different thing.

All RO blue dials command at least a slight premium currently. I personally feel as though all RO's (particularly blue dials unless a new colour becomes the new hot one) will keep going up steadily due to the brand's recent implementation of doing away with AD's

I wish values will stop holding so I can enjoy collecting again.
Anyone remember the days when all you could do is actually wear the watches you collected because they all depreciated instantly, despite the potential discount one might get at an AD? Those were the days! |
