My First Rolex Has Landed (well second......)
Hi all. Here is my pride and joy! I am calling this my FIRST Rolex as it is the one I will wear. Bare with me.......
Here’s the story..... I bought the older 16618 version (a 1989) but changed my mind as thought I needed the more modern 116618. I am glad I did. For 2 similar watches I find them very different which is odd. Each to there own I suppose. So the 1989 16618 is in the safe now, and will be for some years (it turns vintage next year!). For now I am going to enjoy this beauty while I’m still young!!!! Here she is guys. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Congrats!
Am I right in thinking that the older references didn’t have solid end links hence a vast difference in weight? It’s a beauty and a great all solid PM watch. I’ve just picked up a YG GMT with the green dial today too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you all for the very nice comments. That’s what I love about this forum!
In response to the weight question - The older version is 165g and the new one is 227g. Most of this extra weight is probably from the much more substantial clasp on the 116618 - got to love the glide lock!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thank you very much. I would say the extra weight is from the clasp. I’m not sure solid end links would make that much difference. I was wondering if the bracelet links are all solid on the older 16618? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow!! 2 great YG subs! Congrats. I’d do the same. I like the glidelock on the modern. But I do enjoy 5-digits, too. Cheers.
