Which watch would you buy?

16622 Yachtmaster or 115210 Perpetual Date? Pricing is not of importance....sheer looks, reliability, function,etc....
Thanks for any comments!

You can't go wrong on either one. They are both Rolex.

Good luck and Welcome to TRF!!!

I favor the 34mm watch, in fact, to the point of keeping my eyes out for a Y- or F- Date.
Not so much favoring the narrower lugs as much as I prefer a fully brushed bracelet.

In favor of a new Date would be solid links, heavier case, [perhaps a less tapered bracelet?]

Barring use of this feature for function, the wide bezel on the 40mm 16622 would detract it's appeal. I M H O

Hmm, they're very different watches. I personally think that the Date is a little on the small size, and the dial choice is a little limited, but the engine turned bezel is pretty sweet. The Yachtmaster is a really unique looking watch, the Platinum really adds some depth to the model. I think it's a watch you can really dress up or down, so, given the choice between the two, I'd take the Yachtmaster.

I would buy the Yachtmaster it looks really great in Platinum and the style is beautiful. There would be no difference between the two on reliability issues, both are Rolex!!! If it's still a toss up buy both and that way you have the best of both worlds. Don't you just love how I'm spending your money!!!

An acquaintance sold this recently for $1800 . . .

I was deciding whether this was a good deal . . . while deciding what I wanted for a first Rolex . . . and a dealer bought it.

The pictures are links. Note the narrower lugs and brushed band.

Wow, now that's a really difficult question. The Date is by far a more tasteful watch. It is understated and not superflurious. The fact that it has a very long history is wonderful as well. On the other hand...

I have had a long term "on again" "off again" love affair with the YM. The YM is the Anna Nicole Smith of Rolexs: it's large, flambouyant, eye catching, and has red lucious lips...I mean a second hand.

hmmm... better get both.
