Next Watch: Which GMT?

Hello!

I have had a major life event occur and would like to celebrate it with a new watch. I've had my eye on getting a GMT for quite some time now. Originally, I had my mind set on obtaining a Pepsi. I recently saw someone wearing a Rootbeer and thought that it looked fantastic. It was much more subtle than I had anticipated. I would also be interested in the Batman. Unfortunately due to the current wait-times at AD's and my lack of connections to one, I will most likely be buying at market price.

Given my current collection of a Speedmaster Professional and a 16613 Bluesy, which would you consider adding to the collection. The Speedy will most likely remain as my daily. On one hand I already have a Rolex TT sports watch, but on the other hand the Rootbeer gives off a completely different vibe.

Ultimately I know this will be my choice but it never hurts to hear other peoples opinions.

I know this thread is worthless without pics so here ya go!

If you have the chance, buy the Rootbeer - I like many here think it is the best looking watch that Rolex makes!
It is my next watch, as soon as I can convince an AD to sell me one!

I agree with the Rootbeer. The Rose Gold looks so appealing!

The Rootbeer is an amazing piece, kind of low key but definitely a special piece. You will not be disappointed.

Rootbeer is really nice. And it seems like it's currently relatively easier to get via AD. So then you'd be close or neutral cost wise getting Rootbeer via AD compared to Batman/Pepsi via market.

Assuming indeed you can get it via AD, you get to be the first/only owner and it's TT. And most importantly, it's an awesome looking watch.

Have fun either way.

I'd go with the CHNR. In fact I did.

If buying outside the AD network, you'll be gouged less for an exquisite and unique watch that goes with anything and has some material value compared to the thousands of dollars of hype you have to buy with a SS GMT.

Have you thought about a 42mm Explorer? They are very nice in person.

CHNR without hesitation. Pepsi is a very nice watch, but not worth the current premium. Better get the TT CHNR which is more substantial on the wrist in my opinion. You will have the two best TT references Rolex produce.

Consider a 36 or 41 DateJust. The Speedmaster and Submariner are both sporty, so it might make sense to have a watch that might be considered a bit "softer" or dressier. It will also always be a classic reference, not that your other two aren't as well.

I like the TT Root Beer but the RG is a metal that does not work for everyone. I owned a RG Daytona and it did not work for my skin tone. I would look at the Batman on the Jubilee to give you a nice GMT on a different bracelet.

I tend to fall into the "one two-tone is one too many" camp.

I think the Batman is more versatile.

I agree that one two-tone is enough. Batman/Speedy can be your day-to-day, and the TT Sub can be better suited for the weekend. It's a GMT so you'll be bringing it (presumably) when traveling - I'd want the flexibility of a stainless watch.

Rootbeer! Totally different TT vibe than the Bluesy and GMT versus Sub. Two very different watches.

Try a 16713 on oyster or jubilee a highly underated reference IMO. Relatively reasonably priced as well.I really enjoyed mine, gone but not forgotten.

You could look to add a 116710LN (prices are coming back down) and use the money you save (in comparison to the price of the Rootbeer) to go on a nice holiday/break. That said, if you are mainly going to wear your Speedmaster (excellent watch) then why buy something that will likely spend most of its time sat in a box next to your 16613? Why not consider just strapping on that Speedmaster and heading off on a big adventure? That would be a great way to celebrate your significant birthday.

Add a DJ, it would balance your collection nicely, a GMT would give you two very similar watches (Sub & GMT) and the Speedie.

A DJ41 on a jubilee with a white or silver dial would give you 3 watches each with a different style and look.

Just my humble opinion.

Tough call. Mine are too new as I have gotten both over the past year, but really really love them both. Was reluctant to get two GMT's but they are different enough that I do not care.

Good luck!

I personally don't care for Rolex "pink" gold. I also feel like the Pepsi and Batwhatever are too hyped for what they are. Fine at retail, but no way I'd pay retail + tax. For less than both, I'd get a Sky-D. GMT and an annual calendar.

It’s such a subjective question. My preference is the BLRO, but they’re all beautiful
