Daytona for AP ROC

Hi all!

I´m thinking (not sure) of trading the Daytona 116500LN panda for a 38mm AP ROC 26315, I want an AP and this looks just hotter than the Daytona imho. The Daytona is still the Daytona....thoughts?

Cheers!

You would need to top up for sure if you’re getting the 26315 new so it’s not a straightforward trade.

The Daytona is very cool and hard to replace so give it some more thought, if you still feel the lure of the AP in a couple of months then I'd go for it.

I definitely prefer 26315 to the daytona, I would do the trade.

I would keep the Daytona. While I like the AP brand, I have never desired to own one and while price vary wildly in the pre-owned market I would make sure I was buying a model that retained value and could be sold or traded. Pass

I have both. Entirely different watches. AP feels far more premium and special whereas the daytona feels more casual in comparison. If you can cash in on the inflated daytona value towards the AP I don't think you lose

I prefer the Daytona personally, but there’s no wrong or right here. Both are fantastic. I found the size of the ROC to be on the small side but but not too small (7” wrist), however the bracelet, which is typically the masterpiece of a royal oak, seemed a little dainty to me, especially at the clasp.

Otherwise, the ROC seems more dressy while the Daytona more sporty. Just a matter of preference there.

I'd do it for the white dial blue sub dials. But only if I still had something like a GMT for a daily beater. That bezel is a scratch magnet on the ROC.

I absolutely love the Royal Oak but in this case I have to say Daytona. It is the more classic, timeless of the two. Also, the 4130 is just a better movement...

Different worlds. That AP is SPECIAL. I can also attest that while I feel more special when wearing the AP, the Daytona is a lot more comfortable. I love the blue subdials on the AP...

AP is special but if you plan on daily wearing, something with a ceramic bezel is a better choice.

No contest, AP. I had the ceramic daytona and was underwhelmed. Wore it for a few days and couldn't be happier to trade it back for my AP ROC. The fininishing and bracelet, are just on another level.

Go AP and don't look back. Hopefully you bought your Daytona at MSRP and can leverage your appreciation. TheAP is just such a stunning piece.

Do it. I’m sick of 116500LN owners calling it a panda. Haha

For what it's worth, after moving to AP I have a hard time wearing anything else without it just not feeling right.

I couldn't agree more with this. If I could only keep one, it would for certain be the 26315. For the time being, I'm enjoying both as I feel they offer quite different value propositions.

I also don't know what other watches you have, but it would be hard to get rid of the Daytona if it was your only Rolex. I think Rolex has a place in any collection, and the modern Daytona is the currently the face of the brand.

The finishing is absolutely sensational on any RO but boy is it sometimes stressful to try and keep it pristine lol

I have both of these too. Both keepers. Agree I’m way more defensive and picky when wearing the AP or where I’ll wear it. The Daytona is easier but the AP gives you that special feeling when you put it on

As much as I love AP, I lately find myself doing just the opposite.

Daytona is great watch with rich history and enough said it’s the face of Rolex. But, this royal oak is definitely in a different league and there is no comparison here imho.

26315 is a looker for sure! But probably hang on to the daytona if you can. Cant go wrong with two of the hottest chronos.

Thanks for all the input guys!

I will hold on to the Daytona for now, then see after I can try it on and see it in the flesh. I bought the Daytona at list, so trading up to the AP for a small add on seems pretty smart.

I guess I can regret selling the Daytona down the line as well. Got it new with my name on it (now there´s no more of that) and its not easy to get it, to say the least.

Cheers!
