Would you get this repaired?

Argh. Brand new AP and literally a few hours after I removed the protective plastic I dinged the bezel.

I’ve never really dinged a watch like I’ve never curb rashed my rims. A case ding or scratch is a different story. Even bracelet scratches I’m totally cool with. But bezel... argh.

I’m not overly anal but this ding is hard to get over.

I’ve contemplated either getting a new bezel in Clearwater or getting the ding fixed at LA Watchworks.

Is this even worth doing? I don’t mind the fees too much but I’m also really disappointed I did this.

Any advice? Should I just get over it? It’s in such a noticeable spot.

If it bothers you, and I know it'd bother me, I'd have Clearwater swap the bezel.

Did you buy it from the AP boutique? The only reason I ask is that a pal of mine did exactly the same thing (same place on the bezel too) within just a few days of receiving a 15400, he told our contact at AP who arranged collection and repair FOC. I’m sure this kind of service is on a case by case basis and not blanket policy but it’s worth getting in touch.

For what it’s worth I’d get it fixed since it’s brand new. If I did that after 3 years I’d wait until it gets serviced.

I would get it fixed, if it ruins the famed finish for you then its worth correcting.

That bezel gets marred by looking at it.
Just keep going til you get enough marks where they blend in together.

I’d probably have it fixed since you didn’t really get to enjoy it unblemished.

Curious what AP charges for a new bezel on a RO?

Thanks for the feedback guys. Maybe I should give it another week and if it’s still bugging me I’ll send it in. I’m sure it’s due for another mark of some sort. I think that if I had the watch for a few months it wouldn’t hurt so bad. Funny thing is we are still in a shelter in space and don’t all dings happen at home! Haha

The pain of owning an AP. It doesn't look pretty pretty after a week on the wrist. I feel your pain and as wacky as I am, I'd initially want to get it fixed. But just hang tight, wear and enjoy it since more of those will be coming.

I'd live with it for a month at least. See how you feel then.

Who to say you fix it, and the next day it happens again ! You'll be chasing your tail trying to keep the watch dinged free. I would leave it alone it's going to show scars and enjoy.

I’d leave it, you’ll ding it again soon enough if your wear it properly. It’s an unfortunate reality of steel bezels on Royal Oak and Nautilus. In my experience it’s super-gutting for about two weeks, then it’s just part of the watch.

If the watch was like 1-2 years away from a scheduled service, I’d probably wait but since it’s new, I’d bite the bullet now and have the bezel swapped. Good luck.

I would live with it for a bit and see if I pick up any more scratches dents etc. If so, I would see if I could live with it and if not I would trade out or sell. For me, this AP is not an inexpensive beater and unless I could live with the marks I would live without the watch.

Live with it. Let it get a few more and then decide. While i never want a scratch, the scars are what makes the watch uniquely yours and i just chose to ignore them.

Crap, I remember having that diver as well and the bezel as pretty as it is, it collects marks and swirls....I would get it fixed and I guarantee that you will not ding it like that again....I became very very conscious when wearing that AP after that.

To each his own. I like the dings and scratches. That's just me. I trust you make the decision that is best for you.

It looks good to me, you may not get too many more dings, though you're almost certainly going to add a scratch here and there!

It would bother me, especially since the watch is only a few days old. I would get it fixed if the cost was reasonable.

I’m feeling much better about it now. More time needed but I feel less guilty about it for sure.

Thanks for the perspective. I absolutely love this Diver. Had been contemplating so many models and settled on this one because I love everything about it. Total knucklehead for the ding. My wife always asks me why I walk around the house with my arms tucked to the sides and around back

An hour after taking the plastics off I was on a conference call here at home. Sitting in the dining room. Picked up my arm and bang, on the bottom of the table. Argh.

Frustrating for sure but give it time before you decide. I scratched the case on my chrono putting a kids cars seat in. Really annoyed me but a few months later I noticed all sorts of light marks on my bezel in the right light so I'm less bothered now. I don't wear mine more than a few days a month at the moment and it still gets marked. At least they are YOUR marks and they give it a unique character.

Im half tempted to daily mine for a while and make it mine so to speak :)

Sounds like something I would do. Don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s like the first scratch on a new car. After a few weeks you get over it! Great watch my man.
