De-blinging the BLNR
I can't believe I posted this thread more than nine years ago now. Anyway, I sent the bracelet from my BLNR to the same guy last week, and expect to get it back - fully brushed - over the course of the next few days.
I'll update this thread with photos once it's arrived, but here's an as-is/before shot to keep you going for a while In the meantime, I'd be interested to know if anyone else has gone down this route, and - if so - what your thoughts were afterwards.

I did it with a $300 watch. I actually did it myself using a scotch brite pad. It turned out very well. I would probably send a BLNR to a pro like you did!

He's actually just a member of another forum (TZ-UK), who happens to excel at this kind of work. If you look at the previous job he did for me it's literally perfect.

I don't like the polished centers on the Oyster, and all of mine are brushed.

I love both looks, and I love oyster versus jubilee.

That's the way to go. I keep thinking of selling my Blnr and SubC and replacing them both with a Gmt Ln and having it brushed. A dangerous or smart thought i don't know....

That brushed photo looks very nice, but wouldn’t it affect the resale value later?

Well, I don’t intend selling mine. However, when I sold my previous GMTc with the brushed bracelet I had a huge amount of interest and it went for full asking (which didn’t reflect any kind of discount).

I don't mind the PLCs on my BLNR.
However, once when I was trying on some DJs at my AD, he handed me one with an oyster bracelet and looking at the PLCs, I handed it right back to him and went with the Jubilee. I don't consider PLCs to be blingy and I don't consider PLCs now to be scratch-magnets, even though, when I first saw that DJ, it was the first thing that ran through my mind. I prefer the Jubilee on any DJ, regardless, though.

The job he did on yours 9 years ago looks perfect, and I’d keep it brushed.
My 126710 rides on a 97200 bracelet so it’s fully brushed. But if I was going to get one with PCLs, I’d have it brushed, on SS. My complements on a great piece.

WOW that brushed oyster looks amazing, it really fits the piece. Personally, I don't care for the jubilee on anything, nor the PCL's on the Daytona, and a brushed oyster would look awesome on the GMT and Daytona (IMO of course)

Interesting....many times when somebody suggests or mods a Rolex sports model, it is generally met with negativity. I wonder why this appears more acceptable?
I like the brushed center links on mine. But then again, I don't consider these to be tool watches anymore.

I strongly prefer the look of PCLs, but I'm also a big proponent of modding watches if you want to. It's your watch -- make it look how you want it to look.
(I actually wear my BLNR on a black croc strap, and I've been surprised how many people on this forum seem to think that's an offense against God.) |

after 10 years
I bought my 116710 13 years ago. It was one of the first available. I wore it for 10 years with the PCL even though I never liked it. Then after a decade I finally got the guts to do it. Brushed it myself first (did a fine job if I may say), but then a year later had a professional re-do it. No way to look back, I much prefer it this way.

The brushed oyster blnr is the best looking of the GMT iterations. IMO of course.

I actually called Rolliworks this week to confirm that they would do this. When I bought my BLNR last year I wore it on the original bracelet for a couple of days. As I suspected I wasn't a fan of the pcl's so I swapped my 114060 glidelock onto the BLNR and put the sub on an Everest. Next week I'll take the BLNR bracelet in to have the links brushed, put the glidelock back on the sub, and all will be good in my 6 digit watch world :)
