What's this dealer smoking?

I just saw a listing on this site for a white dial 15400st priced at........$27,995.....

I'm sorry but when did a white 15400 become as expensive as a blue dial 15300 or 15400.... blows my mind honestly as to what these dealers think they can get for something because its "discontinued." Thoughts?

Normally when someone has something marked "high" it won't sell, I don't think it should bother you that much though. In a free market you can price anything for the value that you see fit, now whether or not it sells is another story.

But who are we to say hey you, don't price that so damn high, just don't purchase it and that's it. Or if you like you can always call the Attorney General and say that it's price guoging and Covid-19.

Haha no it doesn't bother me, but what interests me is the rational on the dealers part for marking up a watch by like 20%. Its more shocking than anything. But of course, the dealer can do as they please, I have no issue with that!!!

Maybe it has tax, Covid tax and shipping included? Hahaha

He's been trying to sell it since at least July 2019.

What was the original retail on this watch is you know?

He can ask for whatever he wanted, you can offer him whatever you think you are willing to pay for. I think $24500 is market price for white/black, but for blue will be around $30500.

I think more like 23k would be realistic given that it's unworn with all the stickers, that's more or less the same price as they grey market would take for a new 15500. Maybe if he keeps it in a safe for a few years the demand and price will grow since a unworn 15400 will be increasingly hard to find.

What's this dealer smoking?

In fairness, it is allegedly unsized and unworn.

I have noticed this seller does list on the ::cough:: high side.

I actually bought a 116618 from this seller before. I did a bit of negotiating and I got IMO a fair deal. Perfect transaction.

Personally, I never begrudge someone for their list price. If someone wants to swing for the fences, who am I to judge. I tend to be more critical of sellers overusing “unpolished” or other dubious claims. At least a high asking price is honest and upfront.

Doesn’t bother me one bit. He’s been bumping that thread since July 2019! I actually find that hilarious, one year anniversary is approaching

Why in the world would it bother you? He can list it for $2.2mm and keep “upping” it til the year 2123. Who cares?

And to think they actually sold at a discount not that long ago. I got my white dial 15400 NIB for 16K in late 2017.
