Datejust 16234: different white white dial with roman numerals during 90's
Hello,
I have some questions concerning Datejust 16234 from the 90's. I am considering buying one but I have seen different kinds of dials and hands on 16234 and would like to have you input on the following two points: First: I have seen some 16234 with different roman numerals during this period. Some with inverted roman numerals (bigger) and some with non-inverted roman numerals (smaller). I would like to know if these two types were produced during the same period? I personally prefer the non-inverted roman numerals as they are thinner, but I would like to know until when these dials were produced. Second: I have seen some 16234 with lume and some without lume. I prefer the ones without lume as it gives more simplicity in my opinion to this "non-tool" watch. Conclusion: do you think it is possible that there are some completely original 16234 from the late 90's (1996, 1997, 1998, 1999) with (1) white dial and non-inverted roman numerals and (2) without lume ? (it's the one on the first picture). I attach pictures of some models that I found on various websites. Thanks a lot for your help. |

Hi Johnpierpontmorgan,
Thanks for your message. In a simple way, I was wondering whether the DJ 16234 on the first picture above (no lume and inverted roman numerals) from 1998 looks genuine and completely original. Thank you! |

Seems hard to verify. Maybe just buy from big reputable dealers
They might have switch dials from different period and don’t think anyone can attest Or you can buy and bring to rolex for full service 600$ extra. Any wrong stuffs they will change but will cost more |

You prefer the older vintage skinny style or the modern broad style?

Thanks for the advice. I’ve tried both and prefer the old style, it looks pure and virage.
