Two Great GMTs seen in the wild today - surprising preference...
So I ran out to the Cabazon premium outlets today to buy my wife some YSL court shoes and sunglasses.
While there I saw a guy sitting in Fendi on his phone wearing 126711 Rootbeer. He was sitting under lights indoors, but his watch looked so good I said, “Heh, nice rootbeer!” He smiled and said thanks. Later while walking back to the parking structure in full sun, I saw what looked kind of like a Timex jubilee-like bracelet (the arm hair pincher) but then I thought nope, maybe that’s a chainmail bracelet like they used to have on some Breitlings or the new James Bond Seamaster. Then, the guy moved his arm and it was (to my surprise) a BLRO on jubilee. I slowed to make sure, but sure enough, but it didn’t look that great. This from a 126710 BLRO owner, who passed on a 126711 CHNR - I vastly preferred the Rootbeer on the first guy. Anyone else had such an experience? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The 126711CHNR is the best looking Rolex made today. It's very under rated.

In a way yes! Had choice of YM 40 or CHNR. Finally decided on YM but couldn't get the CHNR out of my head. Then got it as a birthday gift. Love both but something special about CHNR
So...make it your next one. I also love the BLRO.....maybe someday!! |

Interesting experience. I’ve usually had the opposite, where I see a reference in the wild, that I’ve never considered and think ... man that looks fantastic.
Milgauss is a case in point |

I concur. The CHNR is like a watch for other people. Not in the sense to impress them, but it looks even better from far away at 10 feet away than 2 feet away. Colors just blend really well at a distance with the RG accents hour markers, hands etc really popping.
I find BLRO nice up close, but a bit plain far away. |

I was both very excited and very disappointed the first time I saw the BLNR in the wild. A guy on the light rail was sitting across from me and had it on. Problem is he had really skinny wrists and it looked a lot like a 4 year old kid wearing his first oversized colorful toy watch. The BLNR just didn’t look like a classic timeless watch, definitely struck me as more of a novelty piece of jewelry.
Up until seeing it in person I had always loved it in pictures. |

Both the 126711 and the 126710 are stunning, as much on your wrist as seeing on someone else’s wrist.
It’s probably also why the only watch I’ve ever received compliments on, including from strangers, has been the CHNR.

i still go with the black on black.
the BLRO colors are muted that's why it's not so attractive and the BLNR has not much contrast. but if ever i do get a chance i would get the BLRO |

I'm not surprised.
I'm going to go against the grain here and say that after owning a TT Rolex, I actually prefer TT over the SS pieces now. TT looks even more amazing in person than it does in pictures. Still can't figure out why its not preferred by more people. I'm not gonna lie, I prefer a watch that has SOME flash over one that is more subtle. I think TT is the perfect balance between being too subtle which SS can be and too tacky which solid gold can be. TT draws attention without drawing too much attention. My perfect 2 watch collection would be a TT Blue Sub and a TT Datejust champagne with jubilee. No SS to be found.

I've always thought the Rootbeer is the best looking GMT in the current lineup. Most people in the real world will choose a CHNR Rootbeer over a BLRO Pepsi or BLNR Batgirl. I like them all, but the Rootbeer is a special TT reference. Rolex nailed it big with the Rootbeer. Rootbeer and Bluesy brought back the TT popularity again in my opinion, although only for sport models.

The CHNR is by far the best looking TT IMHO.

Had a similar reaction with BLRO jubilee. Saw it in the streets during a sunny day, looked muted and a bit dull. If I had to take a GMT, it would be a 16710 because of the colors.
On the other hand, saw a guy with a SD, and it looked spectacular. Now, just need for the AD to call me. |

I’ve seen three 126711s ‘in the wild’, and liked them all. It’s a great combination of retro and modern aesthetic; and the ‘new’ case suits the GMT so much better than the Sub. The modern Pepsis and Root-Beers are the best looking GMTs since the vintage ones.

No surprise that a TT watch looks better/shinier at a distance. Have seen a few Bluesy out in the sun and they are a beacon demanding attention from far.
Maybe asking a bit much but would be good if someone could post a wrist shot from a few meters ... |

Dont mean to thread jack, but do you have higher res of this photo of the 4 GMTs together, Frank? Please pm me details if you are willing to share. If it wasn't because of the ridiculous wait list this set would be part of my collection by now (and I'm sure a lot of people's as well).
Agreed with OP and many others on the BLRO part. Looking great for the wearer but the pastel-ish blue part of the bezel looks quite a bit dull from a distance. The bezel especially loses the luster on the newer model, w the shiny jubilee stealing most of the thunder, I personally feel. |

Such a solid piece. I have a CHNR and BLNR, love them equally, but the CHNR is a stunner in the sunlight.
