Buying Daytona's from AD's - stock & MSRP question

Hello all,

I own one Rolex, purchased from a well known reseller in my area a few years ago (Patrick in Orange County CA). Time to treat myself to the watch I've always wanted... a Daytona!

I'm in the market for the new Daytona 116500LN. They retail for ~$13k. From what I gather, you either get on a wait list at an AD for 1-2 years to pay that MSRP of ~$13K?

It seems the secondary market is ~$20-25K. I could have it NOW if I wanted to pay that price?

Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks all!

Just one thing missing. It takes 5 years and 35k to get on the wait list.

It took me 6 months but had bought an PP5167a (which they got in 7 months) and then I got a Pepsi las December from same AD and got in 10’days. And then asked for a June white Daytinavsnd got it in time....so I had spent (recent spent about 30k of two great collectible watches I wanted.

Then bought 10 days after the Daytona arrived on June 6, 2 days before birthday, a DJ41 Blue SS stock gold fluted SS, so I think they have to like you and know no flipper.

So maybe just go grey and get what you want now?

BTW they told me they get 3 WHite Dial Daytonas a year. So very hard to allocate.

1-2 years of waiting time is a little too optimistic, unless you bundle with PM. But there is always exception and hope.

You either have to a big spender, well connected, or incredibly lucky. 1-2 years is not gonna happen unless you fall into one of the three categories.

Good luck!

Does anyone know how this were to work if you were to visit an overseas AD?

I do no think you could just get on a waitlist with an AD and wait two years. You would need to cultivate a relationship with that AD through the purchases of other stuff. With current supply, the best bet is to just buy grey if you want a Daytona. It will be cheaper in the long run and you will have your watch tomorrow.

Very very unlikely as you’re not local. No incentive for them to sell you the watch unless you’re paying the premium or spending a big bucks $$$.

1-2 years if you're a VIP or lucky. If not, the wait is forever.

Based on your question about having it now, it seems like you're a troll account, but yes, you can have it now for whatever the market price is.

A friend spent 39K to date, and is still waiting after asking for a Daytona 6 months ago.

Why not buy a TT Daytona? Probably no more than a 6 month wait. Maybe even off the shelf, nice to have some gold in your Rolex! Much better value!
Good luck

Your understanding is correct although those grey prices fluctuate depending on how desperate folks are.

Walking into an AD with no previous purchase history & expecting a SS Daytona in 1 to 2 years isn't going to end well....

Don't forget to specify white or black dial while your at it...that should really give 'em a laugh...

I think it's time for a sticky on this forum regarding wait times, lists, etc, etc...
