2001 Rolex
Hello guys, I’ve been trying to find out what watches Rolex were producing during 2001. I’ve had trouble finding anything so I thought I’d come here. I’m a fairly new watch enthusiast but I want to find out my birth year Rolex so any help would be welcome.

The serial numbers corresponding to 2001 were late K/early Y. This link is helpful:
https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-serial-numbers Sometimes it will be tricky to narrow down whether a specific watch was made in a specific year (same with when that watch was sold), but you should be able to narrow it down to the year +/- some 6 month overlap above or below that year. For instance, I've got an Explorer II that was (likely) produced in 2001, but sold in the spring of 2002. So, depending on what you want to call that, it could fit my graduation year, or not. Wouldn't get too hung up. As for the specific watches they made, MOST of the current line-up was in existence in 2001; albeit in different references. That was still prime 5-digit reference time, which is full of great watches: GMT, Submariner/Sea Dweller, Daytona, Explorer/Explorer II, Yacht Master, Milgauss, Air King on the Sport/"Professional" side, along with Day Date (President), Date Just, Oyster Perpetual on the Classic/Dressier side. Then, of course, there are deviations galore for the various options. I think if you searched K/Y serial Rolex you'd find a lot of examples, but Google can basically help answer any question. You'll need to start with the type of watch you want/like to get an idea of what rabbit hole to go down, though... |
