Advice on Tudor 79090 Purchase

Hello, all. Long time reader, first time poster here. I am in contact with a private seller about purchasing his Tudor 79090. I have never purchased a used watch before, at least not of this value. He is asking $5900 but I offered $5500 and he seemed agreeable.

Prior to completing this transaction, I figured it would be in my best interest to do my due diligence. I understand there are thousands of replica Rolexes floating out there. So I looked to see if there are replica Tudors, as well. And of course, there are.

Would a Rolex dealer be able to verify the authenticity of this for me? If so, do they typically charge anything for this service? I've tried ringing my local AD but the phones keep ringing (must be working with a skeleton crew during these times and unable to answer the phones).

And based on these pictures, do you see any red flags? I understand with vintage watches that original parts are key. I have done some research, but my eyes are still untrained. Can you spot any parts that may have been replaced during service that are unoriginal?

Thanks in advance!

It looks OK to me but at that price I would hope you are getting a full kit with original papers.

Would like better photos in order to assess a more detailed conditions, but it is legit.

Price is on the high side of average for that piece in that it is black and may be a bit polished - hard to tell based on thnose photos.

Price would be fine on Blue

Thank you, both, for your advice. I've opted to not purchase this piece in lieu of its price and your comments.

Good call. For that or a little more you can move up a level ; )

I love that ref, but as stated, too high price for what it is.
If you want to get a 'cherry' model, obviously move on, but if you want to wear it, you could always give an appropriate but beneficial offer to you.

The prices are really going up on these references. I picked up a full set on these forums in great shape recently. Was $6,500.

Advice on Tudor 79090 Purchase

I look at these a lot, I think they are a good value.

I have seen some mint watches/box/papers at $6-7k I believe.

Edit:
Not mint, in my eyes they are... I just mean non bastardized, unpolished good looking watches for that price.

I believe tudor changed the dial at some point too, I like the dial that has the T Swiss T under the 6 marker vs on the sides. They carried the later dial to the 719090, I just think older dial looks cleaner. However, if you find a killer complete set in blue or black for the right price maybe it won’t bother you.
