First Incoming Grand Seiko SBGK005

I’ve been considering a GS ever since I saw the K005 on HODINKEE. Finally decided on getting it and so far does not disappoint. Now I feel like I need a loupe to truly appreciate the details of this watch.

Very nice especially that dial and nice an sill at 11.6mm.

Also looks good on the slate grey nubuck strap.

Don’t know why they covered the sapphire case back with their logo and I would have expected better than -1 to +10?

Does look good though.

Don’t know the price in Oz but I’m guessing 10K.

Beautiful watch - congratulations. I've had one for a while now, and the dial finish is just incredible. The hands certainly put PP to shame ;)

Thanks everyone! Haven’t worn it on an outing yet. For those who have the watch, how do you feel about the watch as a daily?

You’re right! I’ve started contemplating my next GS. I think I may go with a spring drive. I like the SBGY003 but maybe something else.

I don’t own this watch. I aspire to it.

You were inspired by HODINKEE. And so was I. So there you can see how great & casual this GS looks on a grey nubook. It’s just an awesome daily wearer. IMHO the standard blue shiny leather the watch comes equipped with is a very bad choice. It gives the watch -5 points in a 10-points scale.

Initially, I thought the blue band was too formal but I’ve come to be ok with it. I still plan to buy another strap to mix it up.

Here’s a recent photo:

Love the dial! Was contemplating buying it but instead went for the SBGH267, couldn't resist the red dial. Great watch though!
