Dilemma....green or blue

Members....I need help. This is my first, but important (to me anyway), post! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I was lucky enough to snatch a BB58 blue on the release day from the AD. Earlier this week, I also received "the" email from Harrods, confirming a black bay Harrods special edition was sat and waiting for me to collect within 7 days. I drive to London tomorrow to collect .

Unfortunately, finances dictate, I really shouldn't / can't keep both, with the likelihood of a new house purchase in the coming months (among other things), my finances really should be kept as liquid as possible. Therefore, sadly, one has to go.

The blue sings to me - the case size, blue on white dial, I grew up in awe of the 5 digit subs and love the silhouette of the case, which the bb58 pretty much nails at 50% of the current costs. It ticks a lot of boxes, with pretty much zero downsides.

The green - its a very special piece, maybe more interesting than the blue (story wise), aesthetically I'm probably split 50/50 between the two. The extra thickness of the case may be an issue for my 6.5 inch wrist, I do however intend to put it on NATO. Also, and probably most importantly, I am still yet to see the BBH in person.

For completeness, the other watch in my collection is a 214270 explorer mkII dial. I vowed my next would be something more colourful, interesting and well, more of a weekend warrior than board room beater.

So what do you think guys? Will I be blown away when I see the BBH in person? Which do you prefer? And which is the keeper?

What does the BBH cost? I think you need to decide whether you want a collector piece or a daily wear piece. You seem to like the BB58 better because of the color and size, so if that is what is important, you should sell me the BBH at cost and keep the BB58.

Clearly the BBH is likely to one day be more "collectable", but i'm trying not to view it that way, i'm buying it to wear and enjoy along the way. But yes, the size I think will probably be the deal breaker....

I am not a fan of any current tudor watch, but if it were me I would pick the green one at retail price if I can only keep one. The blue one shall be easier to source in the future if you change mind.

I have 6.75 wrists and HATE the thickness of standard Black Bays. The gilt BB58 is one I wear often, though. Considering that, if you can’t keep both long enough to live with, learn the quirks of the watch and decide, I would still take the Harrods piece since it will be the harder one to get back and the blue BB58 has max hype going for it currently.

Harrods. BB58 will (probably) be around for a while.

I have both the normal BB58 and the Harrods BB, and I have to say that the Harrods BB, although dramatically thicker, still feels very well proportioned on my 6.7" wrist (lug to lug size) as long as you're prepared to wear a watch that stands out a bit more.

Most importantly, the BBH gets so much more wrist time because I think the color is absolutely phenomenal and it feels like a more exciting watch.

Thats great feedback thanks, sounds as though I really need to have the Harrods BB in person before making the call. I would love to keep both, which I may end up doing, if it can be negotiated with the missus

I have not seen the Harrods in person, but I have tried on the blue. Based solely on pictures, I would take the Harrods. It seems to be a more unique piece. You can always replace the blue later when your finances stabilize. The numbered Harrods with your name on the paperwork just seem like the better watch to me.

Blue Bay 58 owner here.

The Harrod's is a more "special" (ie. limited) piece and I love the color, but the BB58 will be a much better fit for your wrist (and mine as well...the regular Black Bay case fits best on larger wrists). So, if you plan to store your watch as an "investment" then keep the Harrods (although watches are not reliable investments). If you plan to wear your watch regularly, keep the BB58. Best wishes!

I’d get the Harrods black bay between these two

Blue. Special or not, the Harrods might be too big given the 50mm L2L.

It seems that you have the blue but don't yet have the green in your hand.

Just skip the green. Let it go to someone else.

I like the Harrods but the thickness of the case would not be a daily choice for me. I sold my BB41inhouse for that reason partly, in favor of the BB41 eta.

I’d say keep the BB58. It’s just a better proportioned watch. The BBH is a stunning watch but it is just too thick. If they released a BB58 Harrods then it would be an absolute no brainer. Harrods BB58 would win but not at the current dimensions!

I like the green but why is the green special? because its Harrods? and the story behind that is what?

I'd stick with blue given the two just from wearability pov

Thanks everyone....seems a bit of a mixed bag, points to the 58 for wearability, BBH for its uniqueness.

Will post some wrist shots on my return today! Long drive to London ahead.

My vote would be for the Harrods. Try as I might, I just can't work up any enthusiasm for the BB58.

I would have both for a time and see which one works better for me. At the point that you need to move one you will know.

Keep what sings more to you
For me, the new blue BB doesn’t do anything to me, and I’m not a fan!
My AD offered it to me (twice) and I declined
Now, the harrods SE is a beauty!

What did you decide? I recently picked up a BB58 and it has quickly become my favorite watch for daily wear; the quality is phenomenal and the fit (for me) is sublime.

With that said, I have been really tempted by the Harrods green edition. The color stands out and there is just something exciting about it. Like others have said, however, the heft/height of the watch makes me unsure.

Would love to hear what you decided in the end (and to see some photos!). Hope you're enjoying your new watch, whichever you've taken home!
