It sure was a beautiful day for it today! This 5km radius is a killer for a decent ride- as is the one hour limit. We need to stop the spread, but some of the restrictions make no sense to me.

Hopefully they don’t last too much longer...

I think the 1 hour rule is worse than the 5km radius. Last week I did laps up and down a major road at the end of my street. 59 minutes, 30 kms and about 300 metres of climbing. It was good for the exercise but frigging boring after the third lap .....

And I can’t stand the smart trainer

Hopefully the lockdown is done by the time spring comes around and we can go long again

And if my AD calls around the same time with a 116500...... ahhhhh we are allowed to dream

Nice indeed!

Are the Aussies as conservative as the kiwis ? I hear Jacinda Ardern is locking down for a very small number of cases. What’s Melbourne like? Stay safe

Here in Melbourne we are in lockdown for 6 weeks we have a curfew you can’t go out after 8 p.m lots of companies have gone into hibernation for that period and you can’t travel more than 3 miles from home to do the shopping,As long as we all get through this is all that matters stay safe everyone.

This is getting ridiculous, I guess you can go outside for an hour at a time and not get the virus. The "experts" really know what they are talking about.

OP I am glad you were able to get out and enjoy the time.

Hope you enjoyed your ride. We have had no limitations on where you go to exercise or for how long. I have actually put way more miles on my mountainbike since the pandemic started than in previous years, it has helped greatly with my mental health and well being. My SS Pepsi goes along for most of my rides.

I am so confused. Why a one hour limit on exercise? This would do nothing to stop the virus unless the goal is to limit the total amount of people outside, but still does not make sense. Perhaps you live in a densely populated area? Second, how in the world can this be monitored? Who would know if you rode for longer?
Sorry, but I cannot wrap my head around this one.

It’s absolutely designed to limit the amount of contact and interaction that people have which each other. If you can only go out for an out per day and must wear a mask and maintain a social distance, the chances of transmission are reduced.

It makes logical sense as far as I can see. And it is not about being monitored, it’s about people doing the right thing for their fellow citizens and self-monitoring their own behavior. We have been asked by our elected officials to make these small sacrifices so that there is a greater chance of stopping the virus spreading. We could cheat it easily, go further, go longer, go twice etc. but who and what are we cheating??

So yeah, I ride for one hour or walk for one hour and all within a 5km radius of my home. No problem on doing so. Those who flout the rules are self indulgent fools IMO.

We are living in strange times. Let’s hope things normalize and the ADs can reopen sooner rather than later. That way I can celebrate the continuance of mankind with a mechanical masterpiece

WG GMT on a BMC, that’s some big flexing! I miss Melbourne it’s a great city. Is there a strong Rolex meetup there? Would love to join if so next time I’m home.

Nice

set up, yeah thats what I do every morning, actually do a loop all within 5klm of home and end up doing about 20klm on the mountain bike. Getting a bit bored of it to be honest.

How is that working out for all of you over there?

Is there a reason you have increased your miles at this time?

I’m happy to sit on my indoor bike and do 20 minute sessions watching the F1 and Moto GP qualifying.

Too old to ride a pushy on the road these days.

On my motorbikes I can be ahead of the pack.

Take care.

Sweet GMT dude. Hang in there. Can tell you have a great attitude. Poor Victoria, esp those health workers and old folks. Rough times, but numbers now starting to slowly look better where you are and in NSW.

You did 30 kilometers in 59 minutes, that’s hauling some serious ass, you need to join the Olympic team.
Or is this on a bike? That would make sense, great exercise. Hopefully we don’t get a lockdown 2.0 on US shores.

There’s a handy tool on the vicgov website showing a 5km radius around your home when you enter your address. It’s actually a bigger area than I anticipated as I was thinking about 5km on the road getting me nowhere. I found a nice 30k loop around my house that kept me entertained.

Where’s the science for transmission of COVID 19 outdoors? You do have a great attitude that I applaud and I can understand the need for masks when warranted indoors etc. the fact that they are limiting your time outside is concerning to say the least. Sounds a bit like recreational time in prison no? Don’t be so quick to justify your gov actions.

Wishing you good health and Melbourne getting back to normal...
