Every once in a while our kids do something noteworthy. Something special that deserves a bit of recognition.
Share your child's special accomplishments here and show pics if you have them.

This morning was our local litle league's opening day. The sponsor of our team was being recognised for over 30 years of service and the season was dedicated to him. My son threw out the first pitch.
Later, our team played a game against a team we have a rivalry with. My son pitched and pitched well. The games are 6 innings (18 outs) and he threw the whole game. 80 pitches total with 15 strikouts. One runner for the other team reached base on error. He struck out once and hit another shot straight off the center field fence. 2 feet higher and it would have gone over. I'm proud of what he did today and he feels good about it too.

Wow Bill, hope the Soxs don't get him when he get's older, thats all the Yankees need My son played last year and his team went 11 and 1. My son and another kid were the 2 good pitchers. In the Championship they had to play a double and win them both. The other kid who pitched could not be there because he played Hockey also. My son pitched the first game and we won but no good pitchers were left for the second and we lost.

Bill, that's awesome! I love Little League (my son isn't quite there yet at 6), and I love baseball. Pitching seems esp. hard for the little guys, so kudos for your son. That's a really cool photo!

Of my 4 grandkids, my oldest is 15 year old Nairika.....

- Champion 200 m Butterfly Auckland Juniors champ.

- Terrific pianist having passed Level 5 of the London Trinity exams.

- Excellent at her Academic career achieving straight A's in all her subjects.

Bloody brilliant.....and makes us so damn proud!!

OK, here's one. My son Max (age 6) has been sucking his thumb since he's been about 4 months old. We had been able to convince him to give it up during the day, but he still did it at night to go to sleep.

A month ago, his speech therapist told us that he needed to completely give it up, or his teeth would not come in properly and his speech might be affected.

With the help of some gross tasting stuff that we put on his thumb, he was able to give it up in two days! I tried to sympathize, and told him that it must have been tough. He just said, "oh mommy, it wasn't so bad!"

Hey - any habit is hard to break!!

Caroline, poor little guy, to have to give up his "security Blanket". I know he'll survive but it is really hard!!!

My 11 year old son is pretty amazing. Never had a grade other than an A, taught himself how to play guitar, plays-tennis, soccer and football, and has acted in 6 plays. Including the the most recent-the lead as Peter in Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (by Judy Blume).

And my daughter is good enough at baseball to play with the boys-she is the best hitter.

My daughters high school cheerleading team just ended the season undefeated. First time in their schools history that a sports team has gone the whole year without a loss.
They competed in Portland at the start of the year & the win got them the opportunity to perform at 1/2 time at the Blazers NBA game.
Yesterday, 12 hours in the gym, but they won their division and the GRAND CHAMPION ( high score overall). This was their 3rd Grand Champion award this year.
Couldn't be prouder of the whole team.
Here is yesterday with the TWO banners for their gym at school.



Almost forgot, in order for them to get a chance at a banner, they had to compete up a level. They are Juniors & Competed in the Senior division. Still kicked their competition.

The priceless moment was, after the first round, they were ahead by 6 points. There was about a 4 hour break until they competed again. When they were on the warm up mat, there were 3 other teams warming up. The other 3 teams STOPPED WHAT THEY were doing, watched our girls & gave them an ovation.

Here's a little one.

Max is the youngest and smallest on his baseball team, and out of the 11 players - he definitely needs the most work on his defensive skills. He is not very good at fielding or catching. During today's game, a big kid hit a hard grounder right up the middle. Max (at second base) actually caught the ball, and threw it to first base!

I know - sounds silly, but Max always misses these (and even if he did catch them, he forgets where to throw them).

They were very focuses before. If you watch the video, you can see they were fairly calm. The assistant in the tent was trying to pump them up, but they didn't want to go that route.
After they performed,they were ecstatic.

My middle son's 18th birthday today, wants to put his celebrations on hold until after he has completed his exams. Studying law, history and business studies.

Too Proud

My older son, Steven, plays AAU baseball and Little League. He made the major league team at age 10 this year and is the starting catcher / #3 hitter on his AAU team. He is currently the #1 hitter in all of New England in the 10 and under age group with a batting average of .818.

My younger son, Andrew, recently came in 1st place in 3 of 6 events at the RI State Gymnastics Championships. He also took 2nd in the other 3 events.

It was the Ironman Canada that he did Caroline. It was a combination of a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run. The curfew was 17 hours.
