Vintage GRAND SEIKO 6156-8010 SPECIAL HI-BEAT.

One of the very finest vintage Grand Seiko references, the 6156-8010 was made from special hardened stainless steel (HSS) with a faceted sapphire crystal, making it significantly more expensive than its sibling, the 6156-8000 (see 1972 catalog pic below).




Condition

Even for an HSS model, this 1972 example is in extraordinarily fine condition, looking much as it would have when brand new. The caseback gold medallion is in similarly fine shape, as is the sapphire crystal. The dial and hands condition can also be accurately described as excellent.

The movement is bright and clean, as shown below, and keeping good time.
