Submariner 16610lv Over Polished?
Hi everyone, I am currently looking at acquiring a 16610lv “Kermit” submariner and would greatly appreciate some help and advice.
I’ve come across a piece that has recently been overhauled and polished by RSC. Do these lugs esp the lug at the 5 o clock position look a little over polished? I have tried comparing these pictures with other pictures of unpolished examples and from my POV they do appear to be thinner? I viewed the piece in person and it looked mint as you’d expect after a RSC polish, whilst my preference would be an unpolished example I am considering this piece, I would appreciate some thought? I have linked a video that the store has posted on YouTube of this example and attached some pics of the piece. https://youtu.be/pawaMSVywJc Thanks in advance! Nc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I wouldn't fixate on the fact it was repolished, especially since it was well done. Finding an unpolished piece in that shape is for those with big budgets.

Submariner 16610lv Over Polished?
It looks great. I think the angle of photograph on the 7 lug chamfer in some pics makes it look wider than the 5. If you look from behind in the later caseback pic you can see the top lug and the bottom lug of concern are actually the same width.

I think it looks good. Some chamfers are going to be discretionary on the polisher doing the recut. Inside the lugs and lug-ends are sharp and when this goes soft is when it falls apart.

Go check t out in person to make a decision. If possible, have anther LV of the same vintage to compare. It looks good overall.

Is this an investment piece or a watch to wear and enjoy?

If your preference is unpolished I would keep searching?
Chamfers should not be discretionary? My unpolished M.

Lug width on the crown side is designed to be smaller for some references.
I don’t know if that is true for the 16610 case. Regardless, beautiful watch and perfectly refinished

As you can see on my pix the lugs are not symmetrical.
This is typical on these cases.

The polishing job on the watch in question is really bad and I doubt it was done by a RSC.
The crown guards and lugs in particular are not well done.

Thanks for your thoughts! Agreed I’ve found it pretty difficult to come across unpolished examples that are in good condition and within my budget. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for your thoughts! I felt it looked in pretty good nick when I saw it in person but found it difficult to compare as I couldn’t compare it with an unpolished example. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes I believe the crown side of the 5 digit examples are a little slimmer. Thanks for your input! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
