26400io questions
Hey folks, I want to buy a 26400io, and this will be my first AP. I have a few questions though:
- when was the steel with white/silver dial discontinued? Would ADs or boutiques possibly still have old stock? I am debating between that and the titanium version. Opinions on the versions welcome, particularly if the titanium finish holds up, can be polished easily and well, etc. - I used to have a deep sea sea dweller and wore that without problems. How does the fit compare, will this wear significantly larger? - if I find either the steel or titanium in an AD or boutique, is it worth it to purchase at full price new, or should I go grey or used? I don’t see a lot on the grey market right now, but when I do see them, they are anywhere from mid to high $20s, but new from boutique would be mid $30s after tax. I am also thinking about a 15500 black after this, but probably not much more after that. Thanks |

I think the fit will be perfect, especially that you are coming from a DSSD. I have the steel version and I think it was discontinued in 2018. I could be wrong though. I personally love the contrast of the silver/white dial more than the titanium grey. But either are beauties. They have incredible wrist presence. Good luck!

Steel won’t be possible to find new from a boutique or AD. I’m sure it can be had unworn via grey. Both are great watches I personally own the steel 44 with white dial. I bought mine right after it was discontinued via grey for a great price. Dan at Timepiece Perfection can source either for you and he’s 100% trustworthy.

A 44mm ROO wears notably larger than a DSSD.
My FC was significantly lighter, though, which helped wearability. |

I tried the grey/blue dial version at a boutique last week - very nice, but colors are quite different than in pictures. In most pictures the grey ceramic either looks much darker than in real life or a light plasticky grey. It's large but quite light and it seemed like it would be very comfortable (more so than the DSSD, although I only tried that one at an AD for a few min).
It doesn't seem that the grey/blue (26400IO.OO.A004CA.02) version can be found at a significant discount right now - which might solve the AD vs grey dilemma.. ;) |

I just recently purchased the titanium ROO 44mm. It is nothing short of fantastic. I have two other ROO on the 42MM. I think the 44mm for me in a weird way wears smaller than the 42. However that could be because it feels so light. I would highly recommend the titanium version. I bought mine on the great and save quite a bit of money. It should also be said that I have big wrists. I’m happy to answer any questions.

41mm Datejust, 44mm ROO, 44mm Pam1661
On the wrist the 41mm Datejust seems drastically different in size. |

On the wrist, the ROO wore much bigger. But was more comfortable because the FC was so light. It weighed 118 g. DSSD is over 200 g. |
