Nostalgia

I was just having a conversation
about this watch and it made me nostalgic for days gone...

And having seen gravity’s ‘arty’ new iPhone 12 pics this was what I considered to be a nice pic from a really old iPhone. (Actually, now that I've seen this post, I realise that I've posted the wrong pic, which is crappy. I can't be bothered to start over!)

And finally, a little nostalgia from a lovely lunch with friends.

Happy days...

Sorry, I've no idea, it is standard on that model.

I did ask the same question a couple of years ago about getting one for a different ROO that I had, only to be told that they were available but the general opinion was that the buckle was more comfortable, which I now can attest to.

Beautiful pieces!

One day I will get myself a tourbillon to add to the collection.

Its weird but I am not a big fan of the offshores. I mainly don't like the dark ceramic bezel against the gold or steel case.

I know its odd. My favourite 44 is the Summer Edition. It's all gold. Truly spectacular piece. I dont own one however.

My second favourite is the full ceramic which I do own.

Part of the reason I was drawn to this one was because the bezel wasn't dark ceramic it was carbon and it had so much character in different lighting, which the ceramics don't quite have. However, I wore it every day and I can totally see why AP stopped using the carbon bezels in favour of the ceramic, purely from a robustness perspective, but it detracted from the looks.

I had the SE, which was WOW, but I was so precious about it that I hardly wore it. One tiny scratch on the bezel would have ruined it for me.

Life is a game of compromise, as I am learning...

It was at the time, it still is of course, but not for the life I lead now.

I no longer own it, and my buddy who owned the RO Toub no longer owns his (or so I believe) but strangely our wives still own theirs.

As you know my friend Andrew bought your SE and he never wore it either, he bought it because he met our friend Chris and was blown away by how good it looks on him. In the end he just didn’t feel comfortable wearing it so it spent another year or so in the safe.

All good points. Looks wise I too prefer the carbon over the solid ceramic colour - much more character.

I love the summer edition. Really keen on getting one but have never quite managed to do so. Literally begged AP for one early last year but they had sold out worldwide. I don't mind some scratches. My most worn AP is the 26331IP and I treat it like a Rolex now despite the platinum bezel. Its more fun when you don't worry about them but its easier said than done - if I were to properly scratch my 15407 or my 5990 etc i would not be a happy man.

Shiv if Blowers Jewellers still have it in stock it’s as good as it was the day it left the AP factory.

Ash they sold it buddy.

Official Watches have a brand new one. Thinking about doing my first watch flip ever and swapping out my 26405CE for it.

Yep its seeing Chris wearing that watch that got me interested in it. I think he had it on a blue strap when we all met at the AP dinner.

Yes it’s that blue strap that makes it more casual. I’d love to buy one some day.

Yes if I bought one I would def add that blue strap and also a light grey. My wife's AP diver has the perfect grey strap colour that will go well with the SE.

The SE is the one watch I regret selling, even taking into account my comments above. But, my wife tells me that gold no longer suits me (no permanent tan anymore), nevertheless it was WOW and a statement piece. When I did wear it I only used the white strap, Chris's looks good on blue, although recently he's been very LOUD and put his on orange!

Watches get dinged and scratched through wear, I get that and I accept it, and when I wore the carbon bezel version I wore it every day and really wasn't too concerned, but when I had the SE on my wrist it was different, just one tiny scratch would have looked horrible, rather than being a badge of honour.

But, I'd recommend it in a heart beat, DO IT!

My thread was just nostalgia from days past, but now you've made me even more nostalgic by reminding me of the one true love that left me :)

Ash, the current owner really did have 'two careful' prior owners on the log book :) When I sold it it really could have passed as brand new.

The Japan diver? I've seen that IRL on a lady too, and she rocked it, although she had to have an extra hole put in the strap. I even had to send a picture to my wife to show her.

I'm sure the grey will work great, now go and find a summer edition!

p.s.

That diver is awesome, I really hoped my wife might take a shine to it too, alas not, else I'd be wearing it more than her.

I would too. But that strap doesn't fit my wrist. So its all hers.
