Purchased my first AP

Well I ordered the Royal Oak offshore 3 months ago and it came in yesterday. I love the watch and looks great but did notice that the chrono second hand doesn't line up with the 12 o'clock marker. It is slightly to the right. I have had this issue before on other watches that are mass produced but didn't think would have this issue with an AP. Considering the price I would have hoped it would have had a bit stronger quality control and caught before shipping it out. So I have to either send it in for service and hope nothing else happens like scratches or try to just deal with it, but I know I'm going to see it every time I put it on. It just sucks, what would you guys do.

Doesn’t the ROC have a vertical clutch so you can just have the chrono engaged all the time? Just one solution maybe!

First of all, congratulations. As miniscule the misalignment is, it's still there. Unfortunately if it bothers you that much send it in. Or wear it and enjoy it for say the next five years and then send it in under the warranty service.

If you are going to wait, I would at least get the issue documented with AP.

I actually just photographed my Offshore before commenting. I was going to say that you should have it corrected but when I’ve blown up my photograph my watch is slightly off too and in 4 years I’ve never noticed.

Have you actually run the chrono and then reset it? Is it a consistent position?

To the OP, given that it’s one of the 1st things you’ve noticed having just received the watch I think you’ve got genuine grounds for it to reach a higher level of tolerance than this. But only if you’ve bought it either from an AP boutique or AD. If you bought it from a grey dealer then it’ll be a harder battle.

Regarding my watch I don’t like it any less having just noticed this after 4 years. I actually feel slightly differently about hand made products vs machine made products and accept that a hand made product will be more likely to have a slightly lower tolerance than something made by a machine where a factory setting can be fine tuned so that 100,000 identical units can be made.

Congrats, these things are not always perfect, had an issue or two in my and my friend's time, give the watch a month to see if it still bothers you and if so then send it in.

Bought it from AD service is pretty much only option as I was told these in full gold are very hard to get right now

Big congratulations, the watch looks really great!

Seeing as others have the same thing and like in Ash’s case didn’t even know, I’d wear it a while and see if it bothers you. You can always send it off in a few weeks. I guess it’s lucky for me that my eyesight is poor so I’d never even know :-)

Thank you, I just don't get why the watchmaker wearing a lupe who has to see it because I can see it just with my eyes doesn't just fix it then and there it would probably take him another 5 minutes. The company I own we fix any issues before the customer notices it.

Thanks, honestly I wish my eyes were the same way but I can spot out the slightest flaws in anything my customers love me for that but makes my life much harder

Send it back, don't put it with it just because the brand is hot right now. Also I expect details like this fixed at this level, if they don't even fix stuff we can see can you imagine the things we can't see?
