Poll.....Porsche or Rolex
Not for me...I’ve got mine.
I have a friend...thinking about buy this or that...PT Daytona or equal value Porsche 911. I said I’d bring it to my friends here... for context.... Near my age, 52 Has a few watches that include one PM Rolex (not a Daytona) and a couple SS Rolex, along with some G-shock, etc.... Has a nice daily driver vehicle...but the dilemma between top end watch or top end weekend fun, sports car (relatively/arguably speaking) So I bring it to the car & watch enthusiasts here..... Porsche or Platona? |

Poll.....Porsche or Rolex
I didn’t know it was legal for a 50 year old to wear a G shock.
It’s a tough call but personally I’d only vote for the Porsche if it was the 992 as in my eyes it is an incredible looking car, not that other 911s aren’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Given his other watches I’m leaning the Porsche, but it’s close

I would take a Porsche and a Time over any Rolex.
This coming from a guy that owns a Tudor and a Miata. |

I like the idea that the Porsche will create massive amounts of fun, but it will depreciate much more rapidly than the Rolex. Plus figuring maintenance, financially the Porsche may not be the wiser choice of the two. Unless money is not a consideration . |

Although I do love the Platona - there is something about the Porsche that I love (obviously) that a watch can't touch. I love the feel of driving through the mountains, downshifting in tunnels, and being part of a group of enthusiasts who just love to drive.
I voted Porsche. |

In his situation, 911.
But isn’t the correct answer to always add both :) |

Having both, my Porsche is exciting and relaxing to drive, and I have watches that I enjoy wearing too. So I'd pick the Car if he doesn't have one yet, and especially if he hasn't had one and money is not an issue (as it will depreciate faster) My 2 ~

911... I like the Daytona OK, but the Platona is not my choice of Daytona regardless of value. That being said I'm not a huge 911 fan either unless pre 1990.

911 vote. No way a watch can bring that kind of experience.

Poll.....Porsche or Rolex
Got to be Porsche considering he already has the Rolex(s)....scare yourself a least once a day...so it’s said and wearing a Rolex won’t do that for you (well...in most cases)

I voted Platona, but sort of meant Porsche. Weekend car all the way.
I just have trouble hitting Porsche. Nice enough cars I guess but just not a big enough fan to vote for it intentionally.

Tough call, right now if I could dream of these two...
The Daytona will fold firm and bring joy anywhere I go. The Porsche is at the bottom of depreciation I would assume, so it should hold firm also, but has a limited joy window. For me, Daytona....besides the P car I would want costs more. But in your friend's shoes I think the Porsche is the answer. I voted P car for his situation. |
