***Weird Random Serial Number on 126603 Sea Dweller Two Tone

I'm in the process of purchasing an unworn 2019 Sea Dweller Two Tone from a dealer on Chrono 24. Lots of good reviews and seems to be reputable. I've researched TRF and know that others have had good experiences. This isn't my first purchase... And I know the number 1 rule is to buy the seller and to also trust your gut. Everything about the deal seems fine except the Serial Number is really weird. Obviously it should be a random serial number... And most I've seen are some combination of multiple letters with various numbers... And rarely is a letter the first digit. This serial number is Zxxxxxxx. (7 numbers after the Z) Can that be right??? Thanks for any advice.

I adjusted the post and removed most of the serial number. I did that just to be agreeable and not cause a stir... But I really don't understand it. You can easily go look at pictures of watches for sale online and see 100s of serial numbers.

Really? If I were you I would buy from someone else then. I don't want anyone knows the serial number of my watch.

Why? Honest question. Not trying to be a smart ass. Just don't know what I'm missing. I feel like it's like blurring your license plate number in a forum post. You literally drive around all day with in plain sight. What could someone do with a watch serial number? Now you've got me nervous that I need to go back through old posts or pictures I may have posted. 🤣

Two things OP, the dealer gave you the serial or you saw it in the pictures, so there is no harm giving the serial. If the dealer thought it was an issue he would have not posted it or shared the serial with you.
Secondly, the contact he shared with you regarding seeing if the watch is authentic, really is a crap shoot. That member is wrong more times than I can count.
Without a listing link or pictures, absolutely no one can verify anything...

As I said earlier... I see the seller has plenty of quality reviews, I've even seen some on TRF. I don't think they are trying to sell a fake watch. I just found the serial number really odd and was looking to see if anyone else had ever seen a random serial number that looked like this.

It’s not only possible a random s/n might begin with an alpha character, it’s inevitable.

Else, they wouldn’t be “random”.

Yeah. I get the probability that it's bound to happen eventually. But the probability of ONLY the first digit being alphanumeric while the remaining are all numeric... AND that first digit (Z) being a recently used letter in the old serial numbering system is really really low. It's obviously possibly but that unlikelihood is what led me to ask the question. Are you buying it from grey or reseller because it’s cheaper? Asking because this watch can be easily bought new from AD and save yourself the worry.

Buying from Grey due to availability. I've been on a waitlist for over a year with my local AD. It's actually more $ the way I'm buying. My first choice would have been an AD.
