How is the polish on this 16710?
So after missing out on a previous 16710, I most likely will be pulling the trigger on this one.
Interested to get some thoughts regarding the condition of it. The seller has stated 9.8/10. I understand the majority of used watches most likely will be polished. I’m not anti-polish, although I would hope for it to be a light, or at least a decent polish. This watch is priced higher than I originally wanted to pay. So again, like I mentioned in my previous thread, I really don’t want to be over paying for a badly polished watch. So if anyone could give some feedback, would be help me massively. Also, seller states full set, but don’t think this constitutes a full set? As it seems to be missing hang tag and some booklets and the box seems too new for a 2004 model? is it me or does the bezel look as if it's been painted over? aren't these bezels supposed to be smooth and satin looking?

No offense to any seller, but those are awful pictures. Maybe intentional, maybe accidental, but I couldn't tell 9.8 from 4.8 on the condition of the metal on most of that. Against that white background it all just melts together.

Looks nice but 12k is definitely top end....not sure about box as the 16710 did eventually come with that box but when it changed I don’t know.....I do know I’m glad I bought mine 20yrs ago for 2k....its by far my favourite watch ever

Need better daylight pics of it actually. The box should be period correct for a no holes case example.

Looks pretty good to me. On the video the clasp coronet looks good. Bezel teeth are a little bit polished but that would be cheap and easy to replace if you wanted. Agree with huncho that the insert looks a bit off, but again, cheap and easy to replace.

As others have mentioned, it is hard to judge based on the white-washed photos. Though there are no readily apparent issues.
If the papers are dated mid-2005 or later, then it is possible that is an original box, but it would not be the box used in 2004. I can’t speak to UK prices, but that one is priced on the high end for US prices. You might be able to do better from a TRF trusted seller. |

Frankly, it looks beautiful. The lugs are awesome, and the insert looks fine.
BUT . . . . as you'll hear many many times . . . you are buying the seller. IF this is a seller that you trust, and has a reputation to protect, then the likelihood of this being a Frankenwatch (with a case from a different watch, and a Coke bezel insert from an aftermarket supplier, and, and, and . . . ) is very low. Making a couple thousand off of you is NOT worth them losing their reputation, once you take the watch into somebody that can crack the back and check on the veracity of the piece. I just checked out "TheLuxuryHut", and they seem big enough to be on the level. It is, indeed, a high price for a 16710, but if the serial number on the case and the punch-paper match up, and all is good, ... you'll soon forget about the premium price you paid. It's been polished, but it was done well, and if you love it, and you're going to wear it, then you're going to have scratches on it soon enough - - and they'll be YOUR scratches! I really love my 16710 Pepsi, also a 2004, which was my first "everyday" Rolex. I change out the bezel to black (a 5 min process) and a black rubber strap for winter wear, and leave the Pepsi and the bracelet for summer. It is probably my favorite all around watch. Here's the video of someone else who just did the same thing... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0578RM95w4. Congratulations on this piece - - it's a beauty. Wear it in good health!

One more thing . . . . I have found that it REALLY is a nice touch (insofar as gaining trust and making new friends) to actually talk to the people on the phone, or WAY better to actually meet them as a FTF purchase.
If you're in London, and these folks are nearby - - - go and meet them with a handshake and a eyeball meet up. It's worth a treasure. And, you've made a new contact in the Rolex world and will have access to the NEXT watch that you're looking for! And someone who can help you to change out a bezel (for example) on something you might find in the future. Always make the purchase into something personal. You can "FEEL" when this is a shady deal. ("Trust the force, Luke!").

Looks Ok, if it’s missing one or 2 items, then definitely not full set. I personally wouldn’t go for it and continue to search if you are looking at the higher end price. I bought one not long ago at £11.5k which is quite a high price but it’s full set, 07 UK watch unpolished near pristine etc which is what I prefer
Good luck |

it looks very, very good! The box is the right one! Got the same watch in 2005 (2004 watch) and it was the same box!
Don´t think about the money and buy this beauty! |

"Missing booklets" makes it not a full set.
And they can be quite expensive if you can find them at an auction. Plus you need to get the "right year" printed booklets. (Same year or slightly earlier to be the correct ones, depending.)

Booklets can be purchased if you choose. Watch looks good to me, and will have been polished. No way it’s in this condition and never polished. But it’s a decent job.

Awful photos, they so whitewashed that you can barely make the lugs out never mind tell if they are in good condition.

Mine dates to 2006 and came with the older style box (wood look interior) - I realise though that some ADs may have varied things a bit?

Agree that the white background on these seller pics are terrible. Guess there's only one way to find out and that's to see it in person, will pop in tomorrow once they lockdown has been lifted.

So I managed to find the time to pop in a view the watch. It looks in pretty good condition to my eyes, other than the bracelet felt a bit greasy, probably hadn’t been cleaned for some time.
Here are better pictures that I managed to take of the case, what do you guys think? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Looks great to me - very nice and sharp. I do think £12k is aggressive on price but the watch itself looks like a beauty.
Good luck! |
