Datejust 41 White Roman
Hello RF......need some help or enablers LOL.
I currently have in my collection a: SubC, DJ41 Blue Fluted and a recently acquired Explorer I (which has instantly become my daily wearer). To that end, during holiday shopping yesterday I went into our local jewelry store (which also is a Rolex AD) and they had a preowned (7/2020) DJ41 White Roman w/ smooth bezel. It was love at first site. My wife owns the identical DJ36, which she will never part with. I had no intentions of buying another watch and was merely looking for a college graduation gift for my son. Anyway, please talk me into it. I need help. Should I add a white dial to my collection? What are your thoughts on how the white dial wears on the DJ? I've been pinning for a steel Daytona, but unfortunately the way that market has gone wild, there are no signs of me reaching for the grail. Greatly appreciate any and all input. I have to make decision today or I have to pull the deposit. They are only holding for 24-hours. Btw: the preowned price is below retail cost, which as everyone knows and very uncommon. So may be too good an opportunity to pass up. Thanks so much in advance. And hope all is well with all during these crazy times. |

That’s real nice! It would be very difficult for me not to pull the trigger...especially after you stated that it was “love at first sight.”

This is a tough one.
Pros: definitely a cool watch. The biggest plus is that your wife was the 36 mm version...I can definitely see the appeal of having “his and hers” matching watches Cons: you’ve already got a DJ, and a very nice one at that. Unless you’re a DJ collector, it might be redundant to add one. You’ve rightfully mentioned that having a white dial in the collection would be nice; Rolex does them well. Since a Daytona is unlikely in the near future (unless you shell out the big bucks grey/pre-owned), the polar Explorer II, white Milgauss, or recently discontinued OP39 white are great non-redundant options. |

Just get it--you can figure out what to do with it once you have it. It's a very attractive piece.

And I hear others regarding Fluted Bezel. My DJ41 Blue Stick is fluted so that checks that box. I was looking at this white roman as more of a very casual daily wearer with jeans, etc. My DJ41 fluted only gets worn on more formal occasions which I am very fine with. In the current world we live in these tend to be trivial problems to deal with. But needed input from RF peeps. In the end, I added another great DJ (I'm a big fan of DJ's and have plenty of sport watches) and as others mentioned, I'll find something to do with it if it becomes a closet queen. Thanks so much again for everyone's input. Love this forum. GREAT people and share same passions for nice timepieces. Ty and be safe everyone. |
