TRF Piano, Guitar, etc... players.
Hey all! Just curious as to how many of y'all play an instrument of some sort. I thought this could be a cool thread to share pictures, videos, and progress with each other. If you don't play anything, feel free to share any covers or ideas that you like, it's always nice to get some fresh songs to try out.
I personally play the piano and am currently halfway through learning Nuvole Bianche by Einaudi. Best of all, Alfredo

Been playing bass for nearly 35 years. Released our latest recording late 2018, Watertown. Here's a track called, Who You Are.

Hi guys. Nice thread idea Alfredo. I think there are quite a few people who play, just judging from a couple of musical instrument threads I’ve seen.
It’s cool you’re learning a piece. I play guitar (and bass), and while I mostly just make stuff up to go in friends’ songs, my playing never really improves that way (although recording is always beneficial, helping me reflect on areas to improve). Learning pieces, though, is always a good and satisfying thing. I mean, there’s just something to be said about methodically learning a piece of music and working on it until it is smooth enough to play either for yourself or others. For me, the most fun stuff to play alone has been fingerpicked country blues stuff—like Reverend Gary Davis and Mississippi John Hurt. I would like to be better at it, and play like Martin Carthy or Bert Jansch, but I’d also love to play tennis like Roger Federer. |

I play trombone. In a previous life I played on a cruise ship that allowed me to visit about 65 countries.

I'm strictly an "in my house sofa player" these days. I have more guitars than talent, but I enjoy them all.
My SO does not seem to mind. She doesn't even get upset I keep a few in the living room. |

Been playing bass since 1987 when I met John Entwistle. Prior to that, a drummer...

I'm a drummer - even went to school for it.
COVID killed my part-time band. Maybe we'll be back next year. |

That would have been cool but I was still a kid when he died. Can't even imagine hanging with Moonie...

I play a little guitar, bass, and drums. I was a percussion major in college, though never finished the degree (was a double major and the music degree was too much on top of the other major and a near full time job).
I'm a bit self conscious but here are some clips from a practice of my last band (no longer together currently). Sound quality is not great, but oh well. I am the bass player in this band. ImBeingUp.mov SpaceLove-HeavensSake.mov |

Don’t think I could have kept up with Moon the Loon in his prime, even back in my prime. Saw The Who last summer and without that killer rhythm section of Keith and John, it is was pretty disappointing. Whenever I listen toThe Who my hand goes right to the sub to turn up and savor those driving notes. There are many great bass players I admire but John still is my favorite.

John was in a league of his own. Just toyed with everyone he played with. Similar to Jaco on the jazz front... But, John was and always will be the Bassist of the Millennium

Another one of my favorite bass guys was lost as well, Chris Squire. Many of my musical heroes, for lack of a better word, are dropping away. |

The only time I saw The Who was 1982 for their first retirement tour, at Rupp Area in Louisville. On that tour they ended the show with John singing Twist & Shout. Always thought it was so classy. dP

The orchestra I play with released a recording [edit] in 2018 - we started on another, but with no rehearsals, everything is delayed.

Hey! I’m a hardcore guitar player. Been playing for 32 years. Furring COVID, I bought a violin (then hung it on my wall in shame). I’m 6’3” and really struggled with how small it was. Then I got a Cello and absolutely live playing it. And recently discovered that my brain can learn the viola at the same time! So I got one too! Why did i wait so long to learn the viola and cello! What a waste!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I do not play an instrument, but I have recently been toying with the idea of learning the harmonica.

I have been playing classical piano almost my entire life. I also picked up a little guitar in college, and dabble with it here and there.

Same. My wife encouraged me to leave a 6 and a 12 in the living room. If they're out there, I'm more apt to pick them up.

Classically trained since the early 1970s as a percussionist and drummer (yeah, i'm ollllld). Did orchestra, jazz, marching, rock, prog... earned the typical City and State solo / ensemble / marching Superior metals during High School...
Now just play for fun as the Music BUSINESS was not for me. Love playing for the musical fun of it. Below is the best amusement park ride ever! Sonor_December_2019_Above_Drummer.jpg Sonor_December_2019_Top_Percussion.jpg
