Just got a call from AD

They have a JC DSSD for me if I want it. I don't know why but I'm undecided. I tried one on and it fits me well but I'll have to fork out sales tax for this piece. My previous purchases have all been from AD's in a state where there is no sales tax.

The domed crystal and no cyclops is the only way to fly. Get it--you'll love it!

Having owned a JC it's a beautiful watch. It is big and heavy it doesn't appreciate much so don't buy for investment value just buy if you love it and if you dont love it you can do a lot better things with $13k.

If you like it buy it. The matter of sales tax, I think 6.5% in Wash., is trivial in the grand scheme of things. Look at it as a personal cost-of-business expense. I think the grey price, without sales tax, is $2k more than MSRP, so your price thru AD is less than $1k thru AD. Go AD and develop the relationship for future purchases. If this is your final, grail purchase, where AD relationship doesn't matter, go grey and save a few hundred bucks.

If sales tax is an issue, I would pass.

I wouldn’t pass on a watch I really wanted just to save sales tax.

I bought my Dblue a year ago next week.

Paid the tax. About 10%.

No regrets. YMMV.
Good luck with the decision.

And if you don’t love it; don’t buy it!
(Advice to myself as much as anyone else.)

I love The JC DSSD. I'd pick it up if I were you.

I feel like the Deepsea D-Blue dial is worth MSRP + tax. I actually got "the call" yesterday, and will pick up in the morning!

its a beautiful watch, the dial is gorgeous. if you have a medium to large wrist, it will look great. not to mention that from a technical stand point, it's a masterpiece. And I'm willing to be that it will be discontinued in the near future.

Seems like a lot of people (myself included) are getting the call on this. Tough call on the sales tax. I get the VAT (20%) back on mine, which helps, though I think I would have gone ahead anyway! If there's one thing 2020 has proven it's that life is short and you need to enjoy it while you can. If you like the watch, if it makes you happy to have it on your wrist, get the watch.

Is it about the Tax[money] or is it about the watch. Get the watch, eat the tax and move on with a great watch.

Great watch. I'd question how much you like it if it's just about tax.
I love mine and wouldn't hesitate.

If there was a watch I was "eh" on, I would pass. Save the funds for something that you find really special.
