Incoming!!

I was at the AD today because my father in law wanted to try out some Rolex watches that my mother in law was going to gift him for his 60th birthday.

My plan was to go in with him and also put my name down for the new 124060 Submariner (hoping to get a call by next year).

I arrived there first and asked if they had any sports models available. The lady initially said that most models were sold out and the glass display only had about 1-2 female watches. Fast forward 10 minutes, when both my mother in law and father in law arrived, they proceeded to bring out about 10 varieties of different Datejusts.

We proceeded to ask about sports models, and the other male rep came out saying he might have a no-date submariner in the back. To my surprise, they brought one out fresh in the box. My father in law decided to put himself on the waitlist for a GMT and I proceeded to purchase the sub.

Did I just get extremely lucky with purchasing the new sub no date without being waitlisted or is this model just not selling well enough? Either way, extremely excited about my impulse purchase today!

Congrats! Sounds like right place at the right time and the SA must have liked you. Anyhow, congrats and enjoy your new Sub!

Yup NYC! I was pretty surprised myself. I had bought a dj41 from them a year ago but it was with a different rep

Yeah you were pretty lucky. Last year, in August, I called around for a new Bluesy, no one had one. Most of them took my name and number, and to my surprise, one dealer whom I had a nice conversation with over the phone (they're 2 hours away), landed up calling me the following Wednesday that one had come in. This was during the time when they had just taken the Bluesy off the special order list. I think I got pretty lucky with that, although a no date sub or SS Sub were probably harder to find than a Bluesy during that time. May 2020, my state opens up again, I contact the same AD looking for a OP39 white dial. She offers me a DJ41 white dial, oyster, smooth bezel, exactly what I was looking for, picked it up that weekend. While buying the DJ41, I put myself on the list for a TT Rootbeer, had to wait 5 months for that one, not too bad. Been lucky getting what I want, glad I am not the only one! Enjoy the Sub Sir!

You were lucky but the DJ41 may have helped as you’re an existing customer of the store. Enjoy :-)

I totally LOVE the Sub no date !
My 2 cents, but here my local dealer is use to say, per phone, that no watch is available.
Last time I've been there I've been able to test many "no available watch", such as a BB58 or a GMT.
Another client came in, ask a question about a Daytona.
The seller said there is none in stock, however the boss was here (he was showing me the GMT one), fly away, and came back 1 min with a Daytona..

Seems some models are available for some people only.
Nevertheless, wish I would have a larger wrist in order to get the Sub as well, once more congrats !

Big congrats!
You could call it luck but most ADs have plenty in the safe. It comes down to who they want to sell to. I guess you could say you won "the game".

Nice !! I think in 12 series the Sub beats the Sub/Date .

Wow! Cool story, you got lucky!!

I considered myself lucky too that my SA offered me one in ~3-4 months, but your story sounds like right place at the right time AND a right SA!!

Yeah feeling pretty lucky. If they have a safe full of subs, they must definitely be particular about who they sell them to...

Went back to my AD (bought my DJ41 and 124060 from them) and asked them to put me down for a green submariner or a BLNR. Was told that the wait for BLNR will be 1-2 years and green sub will be 5 years. Had no clue how much demand there was for a Cermit!

It may be less about demand and more about production, but who knows!

Either way, long time to wait

Yeah not getting my hopes up. I just had a friend that got his green sub less than a year of waiting without much purchase history. I guess everyone’s experience is different.
