Glide Lock, why not every model?
I am bragging about my new Submariner, again, But this is my first Sub and one of the things I am enamored with is the glidelock. My previous couple watches, a DJ41 and an Explorer II, both had the 5 mm extension, which was nice, but it never seemed to be right, either the non-extension was too tight or the extended was flopping around my wrist or the... the... well it never seemed to be a comfortable and correct fit.
Then I was introduced to the Nirvana of glide-lock I can adjust it plus-minus 2 mm up to (I think) 20MM. Finding the proper feel is a breeze. Maybe I am just weird, well, that’s already a given , but I mean maybe in the sense that I find the need to adjust it several times a day. Is my wrist unique in it expands and contracts like beating heart throughout the day? Do you guys (and gals) find the desire to adjust your bracelets? Finally, I asked my AD today if it would be possible to add the glidelock on to other Rolex models, they replied it was not. Has anyone every tried to rig this? Does anyone else have the desire to have glidelock on other watches? |

I put one on my Explorer II 16570. During the warmer months I take advantage of the glidelock several times a day. Rolex should add a smaller version to most of their bracelets. A 5mm change is too much.

It’s a great system unbeatable for getting the perfect sizing on your wrist. But I do also feel the easy link system works just as well for me. I find myself obsessing with it sometimes when I’m wearing a glide lock.
Wouldn’t like it on every model though it’s nice to keep some distinction between models :) |

I also think it should be on every model. The adjustment on the GMT’s is not even close.
But “technically” the glidelock is designed to give you the ability for more adjustment when wearing it OVER your scuba clothing since it’s a dive watch. And since Rolex tends to keep true to the tools theme for each watch, I doubt we’ll see it on other models. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree. Sometimes the 5 mm adjustment is too much.

When you say every model, I hope you aren't referring to the Daydate. Leave the President bracelet alone .
Also, easy link works fine on my Datejust, Variety is the spice of life. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk |

These forgers have a lot to answer for. You can't even get rolex to sell you a part in case it gets abused by the scumbags.

Glide Lock, why not every model?
Send your sub into RSC with a clasp less oyster bracelet. I bet they quote one. 11 series would be required for 20 mm oysters.

I find the easy link and the micro adjust more than adequate. I like the glidelock. But honestly I prefer the smaller clasp with the easy link. Also it’s nice being able to adjust without having to remove the watch.

I've said this before, but completely agree Paul, every sports model should have a glidelock by default.

Not sure how it would work on a day date, but I'd be interested. I really enjoyed it on my sub prior to selling/trading.

I love the glidelock as well though I believe it would be better to have a 10mm adjustment to keep the length of the clasp more like a Gmt.

I think the glidelock and easy link are overrated. For me I would trade a smaller clasp w micro adjustments along w a bracelet w half links over a glidelock (with the exception of an oyster flex)- once I get a good fit on a bracelet it is exceedingly rare for me to want to change it even in the cases of my watches w glidelock or easy links. I can understand they are nice for those who have large fluctuations in the amount their wrist swells, so not saying they aren’t useful for some folk.

I love the glidelock. I have sourced several and have put them on other models that didn’t initially come with them (116710BLNR, 16610LV, etc).
If they redo the Explorer 2 this year, I am hoping they would add it. Since it’s technically for diving purposes, I’m doubtful we will see them roll it out to non-diver models. One can hope tho... |

The Glidelock on my SD43 was nice. However, the Glidelock used on the Deepsea is easier to use IMHO. Being able to adjust the fit while wearing the watch is very nice. I started out with the watch a little snug, then I extended it slightly to achieve the best fit for me.

glidelock
I put glidelock on my 5 digit Kermit sub. So much more comfortable and stable feeling.

The new gold Yachtmasters and Skydwellers on Oysterflex have smaller Glidelocks that work quite well on “non-tool” watches. I would love to have this smaller version on my BLRO and Daytona where the Sub version would be excessively long.
But Rolex has some weird internal rules about how they dole features out so I don’t expect it to be offered across the board anytime soon. Omega has a similar concept clasp on some Seamasters. They will sell parts to customers and it’s a very common conversion to put it on Speedmaster bracelets that are notorious for their lack of adjustments. |

Agree with you, Paul. They should be on every sport model. The Glidelock is the most unique and functional clasp innovation in 20 years.

Glidelock is incredible and one of my favorite features on my sub. I agree it should be in more models or at the very least a modified version to fit on the smaller clasps of other Rolex professional models. Give a 6mm extension in 2mm increments and it would be amazing.

Lost 6-7 pounds in the last couple of months so haven’t needed to summon the magic of the easy link but I miss the glide lock on my prior subs.

I use all versions of Rolex clasps and am no fan of the glidelock.
Find it way too big which makes it look meh and it is rather clumsy to use. Taking your watch of the wrist for an adjustment and mostly doing it twice to get it right is bothersome. The DSSD clasp is another story all together and fits well with this particularly over engineered watch. For daily use the Oyster clasp is the sweet spot for me. Easy peasy on the fly adjustment and as secure as any other
