Seasons Greetings

To all,

Here in the UK we have some very interesting governing going on, some of us are able to enjoy a somewhat restricted xmas and others in neighbouring towns have had their xmas cancelled. We live in very strange times, especially when taken in the context of discussing ultra luxury items such as AP's...

I'm not going to be around to play on here for a while, so to all, be well and be safe and make the most of whatever is available to you.

Fingers crossed for a brighter future.

Best to everyone.

G.

I wouldn't miss it and am looking forwards to it.

I have a few very busy days ahead this side of xmas, so am signing off today, but will be back after xmas.

Gary, it is indeed challenging times and it puts all of this watch stuff in perspective for sure.

I wish you a very Merry Christmas as well and I really hope we can do that AP House gathering in 2021. Let’s cross our fingers for that!

Extraordinary times this year, and set to continue into 2021

Hope everyone under restrictions this Xmas can find some time nonetheless for merriment

Keep safe all & merry Xmas

Happy Christmas and NY to everyone here.

Please stay safe. Here in the UK its all going a bit crazy with Covid and talk of a new more virulent strain. Crazy 2020 - fingers crossed for a more normal 2021.

Tough year indeed and with this new strain our lockdown is more severe than ever, we are even thinking of having some lovely Lincolnshire sausages and a Roast for Xmas this year and saving the turkey and sprouts for when we can have the family over properly.

Kind of makes sense Neil. Missing my family too. My wife usually lays on a feast fit for a king but this time it will be a simple affair.

If this thing goes away at some stage in 2021 all hell will break loose I think - restaurants full, holidays sold out, crazy parties etc etc.

I totally agree with you...I have visions of Great Gatsby in my head :-). If the economy remains strong I think for several months it will be virtually impossible to get into that hot restaurant or to take that huge holiday. Personally, I’m going to let the hype die down before I plan anything big. At this point, eating at the neighborhood bar and enjoying an amazing hamburger is as appealing to me as anything.

In all seriousness, let’s hope we get there...it’s a LONG way between now and then I am afraid. Best wishes to all in these next few challenging months.

I have recently booked a couple of holidays for H2 2021. It was good spending time with the family plotting them out. Both cancellable with full refund of course.

On another positive note, my father got vaccinated last week with the Pfizer COVID vaccine. All good. Let’s hope it works and they role it out to everyone quickly.

Yes have as much of a nice festive season as you can everyone.
Early 2021 won't be much fun but hopefully later in the year it will get better...

Merry Christmas all. Going from tier 2 to tier 4 in a matter of days in London was a shock to the system. At least I managed a trip to AP House early December in the brief window of respite. :)

It's been over a week and he is totally fine. No side effects at all. I know a few other elderly people who have had the vaccine also with no negative impact.

Worked out per the UK vaccine calculator that my turn will come around August/September........I think thats pessimistic as once the Coke bottle distribution model (ie store in a regular fridge) vaccines become available we should see the rollout accelerate massively with hopefully all GPs, pharmacies etc having access as well as potentially the private sector.

I got an hours worth of download from a senior guy at the WHO and it was really interesting to here and understand all the different technologies involved in the various vaccine programmes. The vaccines by Pfizer and Moderna being RNA based have never been made before - totally new tech for a human vaccine. Just shows you what mankind can do once the sh!t hits the fan!!

Always grateful to people such as you FD who are working tirelessly on the Covid frontline. You medics are the true heroes here.

When I took my father for his 1st dose, there were quite a few doctors and nurses etc all getting vaccinated. I'm glad you have had your vaccination too buddy. Thought about you a few times over the last few weeks but failed to reach out. Sorry about that - my failing. Stay safe please.

Btw today we have the Astra Zeneca boss claiming in the Sunday times that they have now figured out a regime to get the efficacy of their vaccine to 90%+ levels and match Pfizer and Moderna. I don't think he was referring to the half dose/full dose error they made but something new as it was in an interview over this weekend. If he can prove that it would be great and we can start rolling it out everywhere.

That is the coke bottle distribution model vaccine. Like Sputnik 5. Can be rolled out everywhere fast as only requires storage in a regular fridge and doesn't break down like RNA based vaccines.

Im praying this crap show is behind us by easter latest. Immunise everyone over the age of 50 by then and we should have stabilised this thing hopefully for good.
