Getting rolex retail

What's the current situation on DJs? Do you get them retail without waitlist anymore, and do you get them with discounts?

Wait time depends on dial, bezel, bracelet combination

Discounts aren't really a thing anymore unfortunately

Are you talking about the DJ 41? Depends on the combination. The blue stick dial fluted with jubilee and the Wimbledon fluted with jubilee are the hardest to source. The others are much easier. Just go to a few AD’s and tell them exactly what you are looking for.

You what I find weird about this new artificial scarcity thing, when it started shops all over had plenty of DJ's and PM's and no SS. I think Rolex worked out the best way to boost DJ sales and elevate their "value" was to also make them scarce. Seems to be working.

Soon Rolex boutiques will have no watches at all to sell, but they will all be highly sought after and cost a whole lot more than they used to.

Second this.

It took 7 months to be offered a blue dial at an AD in Los Angeles with no history. I declined though because I bought a blue dial DJII gray for much less. I didn't feel like waiting/playing games.

I was lucky to get my DJ41 Blue in 2019 at MSRP from a gray. They are getting harder to get. I just asked a gray for a new DJ41 Silver just to be curious and he quoted 9,400 the prices are crazy everywhere. The DJ41 has the new 3235 movement as for the reason you paid much less for the DJII which has the 3136. Of course you'll pay more for the new movement but if you really wanted the DJ41 you could've waited. As long as your happy with the DJII that's all that matters..

I typically get negative (jealous) reactions when I share model availability at NYC ADs, but...

DJ41 is widely available at every AD. TT RG, TT YG, SS, diamonds, fluted, jubilee, Wimbledon, blue, Romans, whatever. Whatever you want, we got it!

I laugh when people say the Wimbledon is hard to get. ADs are trying like crazy to move $13,000+ TT DJ41s with Wimbledon dials. Supply far exceeds demand.

I'm guessing many of the people with means have departed for greener pastures?

I'm from Singapore. saw almost every combination of DJ41 (Wimbledon and other dials) just a few months back, and was offered the obligatory 5% discount in my region for them too. But yes things have changed rapidly, DJ36 adorn the window cases now instead.

All men's Rolex are hard to come by here in NZ despite having a brand new Rolex Boutique.

It's all about health, happiness & family. The rest are just necessary inconveniences we have to deal with.

This isn’t quite true. (I say that having been in the boutique, each Tourneau, each WoS and Wempe in the past 2-3 months (and multiple times for each)). I think it is true that they can all be sourced (and in fact I think DJ41s can even be ordered), but unless you are quite lucky you won’t find a DJ41 fluted/jubilee with blue Stick or Wimbledon dial sitting in a case. One of the employees at the boutique even saw mine and noted unprompted that they are becoming “much harder to come by.”

The SS DJ41s (with fluted or smooth bezel) became "allocation pieces" in June 2019. Subs, GMTs, Daytonas, etc. are all "allocation pieces" -- meaning, they cannot be ordered, they are just allocated to the ADs and they have no idea what or when they will get them.

As mentioned above, DJ41s can be very hard to come by since there are so many different possible combinations of dial, bezel, and bracelets. For example, my AD in Charlotte said they have only received 2 blue dialed DJ41 in the past year yet received many more Daytonas in that same time span. Of course, they would have received more DJ41s in total ... just not that combo.

Put your name on the list and cross your fingers!

DJ41's are definitely harder to come by / get than the 36's.

My father was looking to replace his 20+ year old 34mm Date. He was set on blue dial DJ on a jubilee and really liked the diamond markers (to each his own...).

I took him to my AD in early December to inquire about getting one. They "placed an order" and we were told that we'd likely he'd have it in hand by end of February.

Lo and behold it showed up the week before Christmas. Really nice looking watch.

If we had looked to get the DJ41, likely a different experience. My dad has a fairly large wrist (they needed to order and additional link) but the 36 still looks good.

Never hurts to ask and see what they are willing to / can do.

Ok, so I gather that DJ41, especially some dials are hard to get. But what about those that are not so hard to get? 36mm for example? And is it possible to get discounts on those?

If Norway is similar to Sweden, no discounts, but you can order any combination of size, style, dial etc for the DJ if it is not in stock and have it within a few weeks. Personal experience from last year.

Yes, love the DJII. I did a ton of research and bought the DJII gray because i appreciate the bolder look (especially fluted with oyster) and I like that it had a limited run. It was a no brainer for me.

They’re both fantastic though.

Eh, even OPs are hard to come by these days.

In Pennsylvania, recent three week wait for an ordered DJ41 126334 rhodium, Jubilee, sticks. There were a couple of other attractive ones available earlier (white Romans and Wimbledon), but I wanted sticks.

Last conversation with AD which was a month or so ago was that DJ36 and DJ41 are hard to come by at present and the store is compiling a list of customers after them. But at the time they were getting Submariner's through on a regular basis.

This is kinda funny. When datejusts become hard to get (maybe they have already) that is the bubble reaching capacity before the burst in my opinion.
Datejusts are nice (I own two), but waiting for one is an absolute joke. By design, these are supposed to be the everyday currency of the brand. These should be in every case in the world, just waiting for the next graduation or promotion.
A waitlist for a datejust, wow, that’s funny
