Change in Rolex
Do you feel that Rolex, with the new models in Basel 2008 and Basel 2009, is changing at a rate unseen in the past or have they always been changing this quickly?
In my opinion, I feel that Rolex placed more emphasis on tradition and gradual change decades ago. And to be honest, I don't like the direction Rolex is heading. I am worried that by the time I can afford a Daytona, it will have a supercase and a date. Thoughts? |

Well they did bring the Deepsea , just to prove that they haven t forgotten their roots .
I believe they too are market driven and a lot of reseach / marketing has gone in to it before they release a new model . Many purists don t like it but Rolex has now a wider range of clientel . We saw Mercedes do the same , up to 30 years ago they had 4 to 5 models with about the same amount of engines to choose from and each model would not under go any change for a decade . Now they too change each season and cater for all tastes . I would still say that they are one of the better cars on the market . just look what Hayek did to Breguet , if you listen to the purists that cry heresy , well Breguet would have been a thing of the past . |
