Thoughts on Radiomir 587

Considering a trade but a bit apprehensive about the 47mm size.

I have a 6.5” wrist and 44mm luminor fits me fine.

I hear Radiomir fits smaller but as this model doesn’t have wire lugs would this still be the case?

Any wrist shots of a 47mm non wire lug Radiomir on a similar size wrist would be appreciated.

Cheers

1940 Rads are basically Luminors without the device protecting the crown, so I don’t think there will be a difference in size.

Still a great watch. MM dials are special.

That was my fear. So it’s basically like a 372 minus crown guard?

372 looked too big on me when I tried it on sadly.

You’re right about the dial, looks awesome but don’t wanna look like a kid who borrowed his Dad’s watch

Good morning Matt

Here is my 690, 1940's case. I have a flat, wide shaped, 7" wrist.

IMHO it will come down to the shape of your wrist more so than the size.

I do agree the Rad with wire lugs wears smaller than the 1940 Rad with lugs, which wears smaller than the Luminor.

From my wearing experience, its much more comfortable than any of the larger Rolex divers (Dblue or SD43) due to its flat case back and cushion case shape. The lugs on the 40's case also taper down toward the wrist which helps make it wear extremely comfortable.

FWIW, I've always wanted to add a wire lug RAD but I find they wear a touch top heavy. YMMV

Thanks Brian, I always enjoy seeing photos of your beautiful 690

Can I ask what the lug to lug measurement is?

Thanks my friend

The lug to lug is almost 57mm, so it doesn’t come pretty close to taking up my whole wrist.

Thanks. Sadly I think that would be pushing the boundaries a little too far. Shame as the watch looks awesome. Damn my small wrists

To be fair, I can make any watch look too large for my wrist from close up

I do agree OP, it’s probably pushing the limit but as I mentioned, it depends more on your wrist shape than size

My 587 is one of my favorite Panerai on my 6.75 inch wrist. I don't really care what anyone thinks, it is about if YOU like it on your wrist.

I'm sure it is I just wanted the OP to understand it has more to do with wrist shape than size

I’ve owned five. 44mm is about right for my wrist. Something else to think about is what shirt or sweater works. I like to wear the same watch for a week or two so rather than think about what to wear I sold them all. 587 looks great though.

I had many 44mm luminors, a 372 and currently have this 587.

44 looks better on my wrist.
But a Pam should wear large.
I never love the balance and weight of the steel bettarinis (005/390).
Whereas the 372 and 587 have a better distributed weight.
Plus the absence of crown guards helps in comfort a lot versus the 372.

It's the most comfy Pam i have owned after the 210.

I have a 587 and have around 6.75" wrist. I personally find it wears well. Not much different to a 44mm Luminor.

I also have a 422 and the 587 definitely wears smaller. The crown guard adds to bulk on the wrist.

Thanks for all the replies.

I think this is one where i'm going to wait until things open up again and I can go and try one on before making the decision.
